Just wanted to say hi. I currently don't own a BMW but I am looking to purchase one soon. I currently drive a highly modded 1994 Firebird Formula (355ci LT4 with a Vortech Supercharger, roughly 550-600 hp at the wheels) and a Honda Accord. The Honda has got to go. I'm very interested in purchasing a 5 series BMW. Nothing brand new. I'd like something from 02 or 03. I'll be doing a lot of research here and asking questions so I appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks.:)

Good luck in your search! Don't forget to join the local chapter of BMWCCA when you get your new toy.

J/k. Well sort of. Welcome to the boards. You should come to some meets.
Oh yeah - Badger Bimmers (BMW CCA) is awesome. Even if you don't have a Bimmer. Peeps are very cool.

LOL. I guess this kinda response to the Honda was to be expected. I used to have a Yukon Denali. i loved that truck to death but it was HORRIBLE on gas. I ended up selling because I was also in between jobs and the $500/month on gas was killing me, so I bought something more economical. Well, now that my finances are more stable, i'm looking to get back into a vehicle that I actually like. I'd love to get a used M5 but i'm looking for something that I can drive in the winter and not feel bad. I couldn't subject an M5 to those kinds of conditions with a clear conscience. That and the fact that if I really want to drive something with some power in the summer, i'll drive the Formula. So i'm looking into a 540i. I think that would suit me just fine. So hopefully, i'll be seeing you guys at a meet soon in my own BMW.

I was just kidding. I am the resident Honda defender here. LOL. Look forward to seeing you at a meet. We will try to do some stuff in winter - probably dinners and a movie or some such thing.

Well, I do have a car seat to go in the back seat for a 3 y/o. so I was looking for some extra room. I'm also a bigger guy so the extra room issue arises again.
Edit: Thinking a little further about it, I think I would just prefer the luxuriousness of the 5 series. The M3 is a fantastic car and if I were in a different position in my life, that would probably be the better choice, but I think for what i'm looking for in a car now, the 540i would suit me just fine. I do appreciate the advice though.

I used to not care too much for the 5'ers, but now Im extremely attracted to them. We have a small BMW car club for the Fox Valley area that you are welcome to join. There is a link to our web site in my signiture. We are a small club that just formed this summer.
Have fun looking for your car. There is a really nice looking 5'er near my house. I went and looked at it, but its only a 528. Good luck and enjoy the forums!
