Is there any way to order a single 'keyed' lug (or whatever it is called)... I hit a big pothole one hour ago and while I was taking out the two broken wheels, I found out that one OE lug was missing. I'm sure I can buy a whole new set for the 4 wheels but is there any way to order just a single one?
Thanks

What do you mean by a "keyed lug"? Do you mean an anti-theft lug bolt? If so, I don't think so. If you just need a lug bolt, Pelican Parts sells them individually, black or chrome.

Yeah, thanks, I meant an anti-theft lug bolt. I lost one of the original (from factory) set :( Well, I guess the tire shop didn't torque it properly.

I don't think it would be possible to buy just one. I would go buy 4 of them

Just for the record, you can buy as many as you want from the dealer.
I bought a single anti theft bolt and an adapter (key) to keep it as a spare if the factory one gets lost.
It's great that you can buy these stuff from the dealer easily.

NO actually its not great. Anyone who knows about BMWs can easily get the key to my wheel locks.
Someone tried to steal the wheels off my brothers car in front of our house, and the theives kept a few lugs. So he just bought a new set of locks. Now theres 2 different locks on the wheels; double the protection.

thats why i intend on getting a 2nd set of wheel locks that are aftermarket and arent found as easily as the oe ones... so my oe set of wheel locks + different set = win!
not that easy to get the key from the dealership though... theyll need to provide the dealeship with one of the 36 different wheel lock patterns codes to get a replacement lug/key... so unless if thieves went out on a limb and bought 36 different sets of wheel locks (assuming they got a different code everytime) theyre sol

Are you sure theres 36? I seen a couple and they looked the same as mine. Could just be similar I guess.

A set of four at the dealer runs around $20. Or look on Ebay, Pelican, Bavarian Auto.
Thing is, they're not that hard to remove even without a key. Any thief worth his salt will have them off in about the same time it takes to remove a non-lock bolt. So the 'second set' theory sounds good, but in fact really isn't much help.

How exactly ddo they go about doing that? Because my lock looks harder than a bitch to take off.

I used to have two different set of anti-theft bolts on my wheels but the aftermarket ones were very bad (one of the bolts got out of shape) so I decided to stick with just the factory ones.
And nothing is as safe as you would think...
