well here the craziest thing, I'm sure I researched and no one says these tire on a 18x 9.5 will rub! But I just installed two mins ago and I can barely see any clearance on the inside and I don't want to drive it and void my return policy, will it rub? and I hear chat about offset, how do I find that number for my car? a 530i no sport package ...please help..Thanks..newbie BTW..

Um yes it will rub. Its all over the forum. Best way to really find out is have someone sit in the back seat. Preferably a fat person and you will know for certain. Good luck.

Dam those guys at OE distributors, he said for sure it won't..I questioned him on why no other manufacturer offered 275's at the back...he researched and came back saying they will not rub "guarenteed.."

Well technically they dont rub all the time. I dont usually have people in the back seat anyway s it doesnt bother me but when I take a sharp curb, i can here it rubbing.

Im running M=pars from Oe wheels florida. The offset for these rims is the ones you need. You can also go on lakeshoretire website and pull up the m-pars for the e39. The offset they have is what you want to shoot for.

I'm running the same wheels, M pars from OE wheels sarasota, florida, I wanted wheel exchange wheels but they are out of stock..so I guess I'm somewhat OK..since you're running the same config as I am..with the same wheel manufacturer. 245 40ZR18 front 275 35 ZR18 in back...
thanks again...i wll post pics when my # of posts are up high enough..

alot of times the tire will rub on the inside if the offset is too high (like 25mm or more) or it will rub on the outside if the offset is too low (19mm or less) so rolling your fenders will only help when youre rubbing on the outside. somehow mine managed to rub on the inside and outside :( rolling my fenders solved the outside rub but the inside rub is still there even with M5 rear liners. theres not much you can do about rubbing on the inside besides deal with it, get smaller tires, or get different rims...

Ive fitted a set of genuine e39 m5 rims to my 98 540 and the back does rub.Its not a major rub but enough of a pain for me to warrant fitting m5 liners and rolling the rear guards soon. With a vehicle of this cost value im not happy for it to rub.Ill leave that for the S#^tboxes with chopped springs that overwhelm where i live!

I have 9.5 with 275/35/18 and they rubbed on my 03 sport 530i. So yes they will rub. M5 liner and roll fender will solve problem.

Yeah, the rear fender well of the E39 M5 is diff from non-M E39's in 2 ways-

1. M5 have diff wheel well liners that sit further up in the wheel well giving more height clearance and some outside clearance

2. M5 rear fender lips already come rolled/stamped flat, unlike non M's

So with the OEM M5 wheels mounted you would probably rub in certain driving/ load situations, esp with OEM Sport susp. and of course aftermarket lowered setup

just have your fenders cut!

M5 liners do not provide any additional clearance on the inside of the fender well, only on the top and the outside

Just installed some 18" M Parallels and used a set of 275/35/18's i had sitting in the garage and i definitely rub when going over bumps on the freeway.

i had some people in the back seat and they made it a bit scary because the rubbing was more "extended" and i saw some shredded rubber on the sides (seems like it rubbed worse on the passenger side for some reason).

running dinan suspension which isn't too low or stiff FYI

definitely going to 265's next time i have to buy tires!

I am runnin 275/35/18 in the back and they rubbed when I cornered or when i was carrying back seaters. The solution: roll your fenders.

if I rub it's gonna be inside rubbin i can see there is very little clearance there....my car is stock shocks --no drop--and I don't often have back seat passengers...

The car is lowered around 2". Its stiff but comfortably stiff. I just got new tires, I wanted to do 265's up front but they where back ordered.

I'll get a pic tomorrow on my cut fender to fit the 275's on.

check my sig..i MAY rub slightly when going like 80-85 and hit a dip with me just in the car...otherwise never. really comes down to offset and correct tire size/width.
