Extremely bored at work, so please bear with me.

I was thinking back to yesterday and wondering how many of you do routine maintenance on your own vehicles.

We could meet together and help each other install parts/do routine maintenance on our cars. This would save everyone money for simple tasks (oil changes, bleeding brakes, etc) and help you become more involved in the upkeep of your vehicle.

There is really no need to worry about "messing something up", because I'm not talking about tackling projects bigger than we can handle.

Heck, we could even do a supercharger install.;)

Again, just throwing an idea out there and was wondering if anyone would be interested in this sort of thing. If you don't want to get dirty or don't feel comfortable doing work on your own car, I'd be happy to help you out in any way I can.

Your feedback is appreciated.

I'm game. A good friend of mine used to be the tech advisor for the Hawaii BMWCCA so I will get him to attend too. You guys are free to use my garage as well if we don't have an alternative.

It was good to meet you Reid. Your Integra still blows me away. I can't believe you stripped out a perfectly good and comfortable car ;)

Sounds like a great idea, Reid. The meetings would be a perfect opportunity to learn and share information. I would be interested in meeting up with you guys.

Matt

So does anyone have any parts sitting in the closet that they need to install?

At the least, we can bleed our brakes before each of the upcoming track events.

I have been meaning to do my brakes. I have the pads sitting in my garage, SS lines and brake fluid. Euro rotors are at the dealer waiting for me. I was going to be doing it with my friend this or next weekend. Maybe we can do that? It was going to be a teaching session for me anyway...not sure if he wants an audience though.

Don't forget about the Tech Session at BME on April 12 from 4 - 7. It's actually to tech some cars for the upcoming Spring Fling. BMWCCH will provide food and beverages.

CCH meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month at Kakaako Kitchen. Meetings will start at 6:30 pm.

BME meetings are held infrequently and are usually tech sessions for CCH.

Join us Bob. The meetings aren't too bad. But you a new member and must therefore suffer the initiation. First we tie you up in the restaurant and make you recite all the state capitals while you fight off a pack of wild Pappilions, we then make you eat a plate of "food", Fear Factor style. Then we all talk about BMWs while Beastmaster tries to indoctrinate you into obscure religions/communism.

Actually we sit around over dinner and talk about cars and stuff :)

Pick your poison:evil2

hey i'm pretty good at that. i know all the capitals. for example, the capital of California is C. the capital of Washington is W. the capital of Florida is F. :D

it'd be kinda hectic, i may try to make it some time. i'd have to fight traffic coming back into town.

btw, where is kakaako kitchen?

Religion and communism? My ex believed in socialism. What's hers is hers. What's mine is ours!

Work? Hey we are an non-profit organization :)

The Beastmaster

I "work" for the State! We all do as our taxes come from roughly the first 1/3 of the week. Soooooo, looks like whatever we earn from this afternoon is ours.

Non-profit organization? Then why do they keep raising the premiums? Isn't losing money still considered non-profit?:biglaughb

Great idea Reid, I'd like to attend those tech sessions as long as it isn't during work hours, I work for a profitable organization, hence I actually work.....yea right!
I will admit, I'm not too mechanically inclined. But learning about my car and others sounds good to me. Perfect opportunity to get to know other people as well. Let me know when and where. I do have some tools that I could bring. Floor jack, jack stands, ramp...etc.

Brian, sounds like your ex was more into capitalizm....

John, I'd like to attend your brake job installation if you and your friend don't mind. I will soon need to do the same.

Woody, I'll PM you when I get that set up.
Post if any of you guys are having a garage get togother this weekend.

Brian, how do the tech sessions work? Is Voytek and Alf just going to do race inspetions for Spring Fling or will they actually do procedures on our cars? I am interested in learning to do a proper coolant flush, and how to inspect the driveline "Guibo" (high failure rate on my car) and a few other things...is there going to be time for this type of thing?

I'll be in touch with you about that E30 too, hopefully in the next week or two.

John,

Let me check w/ Voytek and Alf. We may be able to do some actual work on cars that day. However, I may not be around as my gf wants to go to the jewelry show that day.

I'll be on Molokai the day before, so I may have someone else pick up the food and beverages for Sat. Maybe my gf want to go to the show on Sun. Oh yeah, I made a mistake, she wants a 3.0, not 2.0! She can buy her own!

Once or twice I let Anna take me to the jewelry show (she goes every quarter). That was awful. Truly. The last time I just got real grouchy and now she never wants me to come along. :D Now if I can just find a way to keep her from asking for $$$ on those weekends

John - I'll wait for your pm thanks.
My wife likes those jewelry shows also. She has asked me in the past to go with her, and I say okay, but we have never gone?
What's up with that? I'm not grumblin, but Nancy is very good at letting me get what I want. After all she did surprise me back in June 3, 2001 when she bought me the ///M roadster!

Brian - You can use my car, and change the brake fluid if you need a vehicle to work on for the tech day @ bme. Now that's two ///M cars to tech. One rad flush one brk fluid flush.
I'll be there around 5:00 or so...gottah work :(

Spoke to Voytek and he's okay w/ the brake and radiator flush! Forgot about the guibo inspection, but I'm sure that can be done when the car is on the rack.

So are those inspections at "no charge"?
Don't want to be surprised!

I wish I could make it to the tech session at BME, but I'll be at track event in Pennsylvania.

My parts will be waiting for me when I get back, and hopefully I'll be able to install most of the stuff in time for the auto-x on the 20th.:)
