Hey all, a friend loaned me his G2X for the weekend, and while it'll be easy enough just to plug it into the cig lighter and power it, I'd like to get the tachometer signal to the unit so I can use the shift lights and a few of the other features.
Does anyone out there know if there's a wire behind the dash that I can use to piggyback the signal off of to use?
TIA
Oh, and so there's no reason to ask, the car it's going in is the 95 M3

There's a wire behind the instrument cluster. It's the black wire off the square connector closest to the center vent.

I have heard that Pin #1 of the data port under the hood on the passenger side will work. Haven't tried it myself yet.

What he said. For accuracy sake, it's pin #20 on that connector, but it's easy enough to find as there is only one solid black wire going into that connector.
Thanks guys, I looked for the forums, but just ended up at the racepak forums. No BMW specific info there.

I did. Tach & G2X didn't return anything of value. Maybe I suck that way?
Anywhooooooooo, It WORKED! :redspot:redspot
Now all I have to do is reprogram the box so that it doesn't think I'm driving a Spec Miata and shows me spinning the engine to 10k rpm :)
