I'm looking for a little math channel help with the G2x. I would like to capture my Gear in datalink for analysis, not just in the display, and have found some hints but my limited math is holding me back.

The solution for capturing gear was to setup 2 channels, 1 for gear ratio and another for the actual gear. Gear ratio = ('Engine RPM'/'GPS_MPH')

And Gear = 1+('Gear Ratio'<=176)+('Gear Ratio'<=103)+('Gear Ratio'<=75)+('Gear Ratio'<=60)

However, I can't quite make the math connection from the example to convert my ratios into usable parameters, the bold numbers.

Stock e36 M3 lsd ratios are 4.20, 2.49, 1.66, 1.24, 1.00; a little math help, please?

Well, we need your
Redline
Diff ratio
Tire size... better yet revs/mile as specified by tire manuf spec...

assuming
redline 7000
diff 3.23
tire ra-1 235/40/17 speced at 852 revs/mile

then your numbers are Gear = 1+('Gear Ratio'<=193)+('Gear Ratio'<=114)+('Gear Ratio'<=76)+('Gear Ratio'<=57)

That is on the mathematical edge though so I would adjust them up a few points buy trial and error on the GPS. Maybe 198 119 81 62
