EngPhys09 11-15-2007, 12:40 AM most likely could fit, I think your best bet is with http://www.metricmechanic.com/ they have all parts needed for m20 engines. And there are turbo kits from http://www.bmw2002.com/ slocar 11-15-2007, 05:54 AM www.turbochargingdynamics.com is another. offthewall 11-15-2007, 08:05 AM so i just checked out the Ireland Eng. website... i think i would rather do a stroker kit... 3.1 liters!! now if i can just figure out how to "Properly" fill out a Fafsa application! lol EngPhys09 11-15-2007, 08:40 AM I want to do that stroker kit, but i'm not sure if the crank is forged or not? I think it isn't which could be troublesome. Goathumper 11-15-2007, 10:25 AM why would you stroke it when an m30 could be had for next to nothing? Just curious EngPhys09 11-15-2007, 10:39 AM why would you stroke it when an m30 could be had for next to nothing? Just curious Well i'm curious what you are talking about when we are discussing this motor. I hope you mean m20. Stroking the motor and running 11 to 1 compression would easily make 240hp. Now for say 2000$ to 3000$ thats not a bad job. Yes I am aware that no one likes the m20 motor for some strange reason. An m50 will make 10-20hp more. There is no reason why with some good work to the engine, exhaust, and add a turbo you couldn't get 350hp or more. It looks like a good kit to buy but just not sure how strong it is? Goathumper 11-15-2007, 04:48 PM no i mean why stroke the m20 when a 3.5L m30 and high comp pistons could be had for less EngPhys09 11-15-2007, 04:52 PM Well you could buy a rebuild m30 fro $4000, pistons would be $600. Might have to change the trans. Change the computer. New cross member mounts. ETC. Or you could keep your engine you have now and build it. Either way your not getting crazy hp out of any of these engines with out serious amounts of work. But for 2000$ you could buy a stroker kit to make 240hp or so. It's what all the E30 guys do. They love these m20 motors. offthewall 11-15-2007, 09:07 PM yeah.. i mean yeah i could sell my car and get a 535iM but it just wont be the same... i like my E34.. its been good to me. Goathumper 11-15-2007, 09:20 PM meh, i got a "used M30" for $500 Fully built head (Oversize valves, 3 angle valve job, Port and polish, all new seals, etc..), High volume oil pump, New Rings, Full stud kit, Oil filter relocation, 16lb flywheel, M5 clutch.
