I noticed a clicking/ticking noise from my engine bay. I've found out that the noise emanates from this area. When I put my finger on it I can feel the click as well.

What is it and is this bad?

that is your heater valve. Common to fail in our cars. Clicking means they are not dead.....yet. Mine used to seize up and stop clicking when it got cold out. Replaced with new ones and they click away :cool

I had to replace mine 2 weeks after I bought my car. I think it is a useless item but whatever.

Normal for it to click. E34's have tons of random sounds coming from it.

:D Thanks guys. I got worried since I just replaced plugs and valve cover gaskets because of a nasty oil leak. After I gave the engine bay a nice bath.... err, cleaning. I thought the ticking was a bomb or something.
