View Full Version : Good news about my car

The flippin idiot who is supposed to be the best alignment guy in town had it backwards. My toe is perfect. The camber is 2 degrees off. That is what it seemed like to me anyway, but I guess I trusted a moron. Anyhew, I will be getting a camber correction kit to fix the issue and hopefully my rear tires will last more than 3 months after that. I had all the suspension, sub-frame etc checked and it is absolutely perfect. All the I told you so's can suck it :)

This combined with my discussions with a few Bimmer fanatics has made me realize after many of you already did, that I would be stupid to get rid of my car only to start over.

Moving ahead as planned with FI. Only a few months away now.

It's nice to be back in the car. I haven't driven her in weeks b/c I wanted to wait until I found out what was truly behind the tire wear

Nice. Are you still dropping in an m52 and boosting it? Those are pretty stout motors.

Need more info before I decide to do M52 or do the M50.

Anyone know whether the con rods are as beefy in the 2.8 as in the 2.5?

Now I will probably get a ticket next time I drive it. It's been on the car forever and no problems. VA is pretty nutty about traffic laws too.

I used to have the same letter/number combo as the back with VA stickers. I only have a front Euro

An "I told you so" chiming in.

Glad to hear you are keeping it. Nobody will ever love her like you do.

FI all the way.

Haha. I hope all the "I told you so's" know I was kidding with the I told ya so remark. Hence the smiley. Many dont get my sinicism and sarcasm. Those are the people that just think I am a jerk :)

The guy that fixed my car is the master!!!! He is restoring my pops 240z as well. Everytime I go in there, he is either doing collision on 911's or MB's. He has built a few race 911 chasis's

Any reccomendations on rear camber correction kits?

kesslerbmw

I'd go with the Dinan Kit..

RVAE34
11-15-2007, 09:41 AM
Does that have adjustable camber and toe? Since toe is fine, I kind of want to stay clear of kits that adjust both. Then I would have to have so much time spent on getting them straight.

The bavauto kit adjusts up to 1.75 degrees. Mine is out 2. That way if I set the kit all the way to max setting, I wont have to fumble with resetting them after they are pressed in.

Thoughts? Comments?

I'd talk your local BMW/Dinan dealer down on their labor rate and pay them to install them. You know it will be aligned correctly then too. That is just about the last thing on my list of mods to be done to my car before I go motor swap.

Redo your whole rear suspension and then have them put those in and align it.

A link to this? My rear tires are wearing fast also, but my car isn't even lowered?

me too... all I did was upgrade to my 17's and now I have camber in the back..... would it just be that my shocks are a bit worn??

MacR

This is all strange. I used to have terrible camber issues that never caused any weird tyre wear.

After a full suspension rebuild--front and rear--I'm now getting awkward wear.

Most of the time worn parts are the cause for weird tire wear.

I know Bavauto has a kit for the rear. Looking into other manufacturers as well.

Urinemachine. Since your not going to help me build my setup :( I will most likely be turning the car over to TCD. And remember.... I am not getting rid of A/C. Air to water intercooler.

so if say putting 18's on and dropping it with the h&r springs and Koni struts would I expect to have camber problems or just if the pitman arm bushings and trailer arm bushings are worn?:eyecrazy

That's the name I couldn't think of. I have never thought about doing this before, but now I may want to run through it all.

Is there a place that sells the whole kit similar to this eBay one?

They sell top mount M30 manifolds. As far as I know, their M50 family manifolds are all bottom mount.
