View Full Version : Need power for GTS2: Split Second MAF any good?

I'm thinking of converting my car to run in GTS2. In order to be somewhat competitive with the very fast 968s that run in my region, I would need to pick up some more power and drop some weight. I happen to have a Split Second MAF kit sitting around that I got a great deal on a couple years ago and never put on anything. I've heard some impressive (optimistic?) claims about the power increase of these kits, but can't seem to find any real numbers. Anyone have any experience or opinions?

Thanks,
Colin

All of the installs on E30 M3s and E28/E24 M-cars result in greatly increased midrange torque and power over the whole rev range according to everything I've ever read. That M20 engine has a tiny AFM, and switching to a 3" HFM would definitely free up some ponies! I don't think you need or should use anything over a 3". M50 HFMs are probably a dime a dozen these days, and the newer PSC1 can easily remap the voltage curves to accommodate any HFM. Switching back to the AFM would be easy to continue running in BMW CCA events, too.

Great, sounds like that would be a good place for me to start since I already have one. Unfortunately, since mine is 2 or 3 years old now, it is adjusted using a little control box with knobs. I see that the PSC1 is laptop programmable, which I'm sure is far superior. Hopefully I can get it dialed in well enough with the old system as I'd hate to have to buy another control unit.
