was wondering if anyone around here has changed a rear wheel bearing on a 3 series. I looked at the bentley and you have to pull the axle and then the bearing...
I might buy a few tools to do this but was wondering if anyone in the area has done it. Id flip you some cash and 2 helping hands if you could help me out....
kinda a long shot but its worth a try.

it is definitley not worth your effort if you do not have the proper know how or tools. The bearings have to be pressed, correctly at that.
it is not an easy job at all! I had mine done at a shop and paid 500 for everything parts labor. Anthony (A&L Autobody Palatine, IL) will let you know if you want a quote [prices may vary depending on your car]

That's a good one to pay for. It sucks.

+1 for wheel bearing sucking, but if you want to save some cash and can afford to have your car down for a couple days you can take off the hub and take it to a shop (NAPA does this) to have the bearing/seals pressed in/out. That will usually cost you under $50.
Alternatively, you can get creative and do it yourself... something similar to the way I've done it on my Subaru should work - http://rs.pmgz.net/?page_id=17

I had my mechanic do one side for $75 labor.
