I've been looking around the Internet and am finding people talking about adverse problems when upgrading the wheel size on the 335xi.
I am interested in putting on a set of new wheels to my recently acquired 335xi in the spring...but would like to know the ins and outs of what can adversely effect the car.
I realize I can keep the overall diameter of the tire even when going up in wheel size by running a slightly lower profile tire with each wheel size upgrade...this will effect the handling, in most cases improving it, but will make it a harsher riding car...so you have the fine line of what's too much for what you sacrifice.
My question is, are there problems beyond this to consider...like offsets differing because of components that may interfere because of the xDrive?
I love the stock car, but as most of you are finding it will be difficult not to personalize my ride a bit...wheels are an obvious choice.
Other concerns are the obvious...but I plan on maintaining my stock 17" wheels for winter driving. Larger wheels, lower profile tires with performance tread designs will not handle the snow very well, I live in the snow belt, so it's not uncommon to get a 12-20" lake effect dump overnight.
Aside from the above mentioned ill-effects of upgrading tire size I don't know why going up would be adverse on this car...what say you guys?
By the way, thanks for your help.
