I am about to change my timing belt on my '84 528e. I have the Haynes manual, and it is having me remove the radiator, etc. Is this a good maunual to go by, or is there a better source, online or otherwise. I'm new to this so any help would be appreciated. Curtis.

a bentley manual would be optimum, but there are no super special tricks to the job. with the radiator out you have room to work. line up is the critical part and that's up to you and not the book. the belt should have a white dot at each point for line up on the front sprocket on the crank and over head cam. now is a good time to do the two oil seals on the cam (same part number) and oil pump and the front main oil seal.

Leave the radiator in, there is plenty of room. This is possibly the least simplest timing belt job on the planet. Did you get a new tensioner as well ?. Push the tensioner all the way back against the spring and tighten it. Install the belt , release the bolt holding the tensioner and retighten the bolt, Turn it over several times by hand by putting a wrench on the crank bolt and recheck alignment . Is the belt snug ?

Did you mean to say least simplest? Is it easy or difficult. Thanks. I am buying the belt and tensioner today.
