I'd be very hesitant to use any of that type of additive on an automatic transmission. My concern would be that they would have too great a detergent effect, which might loosen deposits that could then plug a passage or valve. The same applies to a power flush.

The safe way is to do a fluid/filter change using the same fluid as is currently in the transmission, drive a 1000-3000 miles and repeat the fluid filter change. That avoids shocking the transmission with a lot of detergent action and gives any deposits time to dissolve and go into solution.

It sounds like you are already experiencing transmission problems. If that's the case the chances of fluid/filter change helping is pretty slim. But the cost is low in comparison to a replacement transmission, so it is worth a shot.

ok so i'll just skip the flush method and just do a fluid/filter change. if it doesn't fix it i'll prob. just put the car on the auction block. it's sad i really like the looks of the car(esp. after the new rims) but i just don't think a car should be having these prob's after only 155k milles on the clock. i don't think the prev. owner really took care of it very well ?

thx !
