Hi guys,

What do you do to test parts that are off the car? Is there some kind of AC adaptor you can buy with multiple plugs you can plug parts into for this purpose? I want to test an old fuel pump and some other stuff to make sure it's still working. I'd rather not buy a 12V car battery and connect it directly (does that even work?) Even if that works, doesn't seem like a safe/smart idea :D

I just use an old battery. You could also use one of those jump boxes. If you don't have one lying around, get some wire and alligator clips and make yourself a couple of test leads that you can hook up to the battery in your car - about 2-3ft long should be plenty.

agreed. You can just use the battery out of your car. The fuel pump receives 12v under normal operation so hooking a 12v battery directly to is isn't going to cause any problems. Back in my days working as a parts guy I tested quite a few pumps like this.
