Unbelievable I took my piping off Monday to clean out. While I had it apart I made one of those DIY pressure testers and Im glad I did.For som reason at 30 psi my intercooler would only have a 10psi But I could not see any leak.
I mixed up some soapy water and boom big bubbles on each side.Come to find out who ever had the intercooler before me drilled right through the mounting block into the side tanks.:madThats 4 5/16 holes 2 on each sideOver a one inch hole:mad I had to pump almost 57 psi to have 32 psi.Well My friend Lenny fixed me up cut off blocks closed holes and welded block all the way around.

Those of you who where at the track rental remember when I turned the boost up I went slower and my inlet air temp were high this is why.Andreas(from PPF)has been helping me as I contacted him on high inlet temps THANKS ANDREAS:buttrock.I just happen to stumble across the leak.
Over 2 years this was like this The original Lil 2.8 might still be alive:(
and I might have made over 1000 whp well there is always winter for the 1000 mark.

Im expecting some good times at the track rental monday:buttrock:buttrock

that is a perfect example why I am not a big fan of using pre-owned parts...
I am sure alot of pre-owned parts are fine, I just simply would not chance it..
Good catch...... Ulysses..
Should make for a nice improvement..

W0W that is a huge hole, damn the turbo must have been way over speeding to compensate for the pressure loss.
Good thing you found it, the car must feel quite a bit different now:evil2

Yep Im wondering also what would have been the outcome with out the leak.
We thought the turbo and all the pulls just made inlets air that hot.Thank goodness the dyno runs are short when I tried higher boost at the track third and fourth got real hot.I can only wonder what boost the turbo was actually putting out to get 30psi on the dyno. I will dyno again after race season. I still want the 1000whp:evil2

Wow, owned by 4 holes. 996whp with big leaks? No offense, but pressure testing is the first thing you should have done, esp when running over 15psi. Lots of the BOV's I've tested will leak over 20psi due to the stock spring. My original tester uses a valve stem like that with a (free) gauge next to it. It lets you test things gently if needed, as well as check for long-term tiny leaks. BTW you should test your DP and manifold as well.

Used bar/plate intercooler = $200+
Making 996whp with serious boost leak = $$$$$
Being owned with a $3 pressure tester = priceless

True....but think of it like this....

It will be the cheapest modification for Mo Power that Ulysees has ever had to do :buttrock
