Please direct me to a link/thread with info about removing the central gauge cluster on my 97 M3 . I know it can be done but I can't remember the specifics... especially how to pull the harnesses off the back of the module and ease it out without removing the steering wheel.
Any added tips about undoing the harness clips or sliding it in and out would be greatly appreciated.
I look sorta stupid driving with it half in and half out.

Thanks...That's the great link I was looking for... but now I can't get the package out past the steering wheel as I could with my '96 328...
Was wondering if anyone's been successful in getting it out of a '97 without removing the steering wheel? I'm thinking I may be missing somthing in terms of positioning the cluster or taking it out the wrong side...
Any help would be appreciated ....
Thks again

I got mine out. Put the key in the ignition and rotate it to 'run' so that you can turn the steering wheel. Then pull the gauge cluster out and pull it as far into the wheel as you can. Once there, rotate the wheel and it will eventually give you enough room to get the cluster out.
I must admit that it took me a good 30 minutes to get it out... but I got it back in within 5 minutes. I'm sure I could remove it alot faster now.
Just make sure to turn the key off before you plug the cluster back in.

Thanks, John.
Is yours a 97, too? And do you rotate toward the radio or away from it?
I stopped trying... awaiting replies..... after I got it jammed with the horn blowing... Damned embarassing....!
My 96 just didn't seem this hard, ...yet it looks like the same clearances...
Thanks, again

I have a 98. Same steering wheel... no tilt.
It is a tight fit... but it clears. I think I pulled the lower portion of the package into the wheel recess and then rotated it towards the door. It barely fits through. However, going back in was really easy.
