2001 540i/6 102,000 miles

had the radiator crack at 101,000
replaced radiator,thermostat,waterpump,hoses, expansion tank

about 200 miles later... i did an oil change with mobile 1 0w 40 8 quarts... and oem bmw filter...

dipstick is right on the mark..

and eversince i did this oil change.... randomly once in a while.. it says check coolant level on the dash..... i checked the coolant... even added a cup extra.... bled out the air...

the thing is , the light comes and goes randomly.... if it comes on...all i have to do is shut the motor off... and restart.... and voila... its gone..

i thought it would go away after a while.... temp guage is normal... at half way... fan clutch is fine....

is it a sensor problem?
is the sensor located near the oil filter?... cause i was having a hardtime getting it open... and broke one of the rubber mounts... wanted to know if i damged something else during the process...

by any chance you have a peake diagnostic/reset tool?

It might be a wacky level sensor in the overflow tank. I do agree with the previous poster that the error codes should be reset after replacing the radiator. You can accomplish this by unplugging the battery overnight.

lol nope...

would this be something that the free autozone scan thing would carry?

So this has nothing to do with the oil change i gave it?...

im gonna give it one more day... and burp the air out and see if it needs to be topped off....

and if the light problem persists... ill try unplugging.
