View Full Version : Where is the best place to score some 19" M-Parallels?
bmr4me 11-08-2007, 07:48 PM I recently purchased a set of 18x8 and 18x9.5 M Parallels. I saw some 19" M parallels replica's somewhere, and wish I could get a set for the rear of my 530. I guess I could sale me rears with tires. Thanks in advance.
Nevermind. Sorry. I found them. Just wondering if they will sale me a set for the rear 19x9.5's?

Anthony530i 11-08-2007, 08:51 PM supark I just picked up my 530 couple weeks ago and am new here. I was going to do those same rims in the spring. one question what drop are u running and how wide are you in the back. i wanted to do 275 although I see most run 265's. will 275's clear with a drop?

+1. What kind of springs r u running supark and what size are the rear tires? Does anyone kno if 19/9.5 on 275 rubber will clear a 540 on H&R sports?
supark 11-08-2007, 09:28 PM I'm running eibach pro-kit springs with 265s in the rear. I would definitely recommend 275s on the rear though if you're running 9.5" - you won't have any clearance issues even dropped with 275s (unless you're totally slammed).

right now im on a stock non-sport suspension with 18" (8.5/9.5 with 265 rubber in the back) m pars. Was wondering, whether 19s with 275 will clear after I'll drop her, so Im glad it will. thanks a bunch :alright
Schnell98 11-08-2007, 10:40 PM New guy here. I have a dropped 98 540 with 275/30-19 on 19x9.5 and it does rub, badly with passengers in the back seat. So much so that I just backed down to 265/35-18. When I bought the car it was already resprung so I'm not sure of the mfg of the springs but it sits at 13" all around from top of wheel well to center of hub. Loved the look, just could not stand the rubbing. The roads here suck!

supark, I like the Twin Peaks shots. We should meet up and do a mini shoot like xxpanipuri/brian530 (sterling grey twins), since I drive by there every evening. But we'll do a thread called TSilver twins :) LOL

LBMotoring 11-09-2007, 07:46 PM I was going to run 18's in the front and 19's in the rear,
If you try it let me know how it goes,
I was worried about setting of my ABS sensor or traction control.

I live in Belmont (280/92 freeway along the Peninsula), but I go and pick up my daughter at my parents' house Mon-Fri in the Sunset District (around 19th Kirkham). We can do a quick photo shoot b4 I go to my parents' house around 530p. Just let me know when so I can bring in my camera.
328iThizz, u r welcome to join! Plus, any other E39.........Heck, it goes back to the BayArea E39 meet....whenever that one is set-up.
gray1g 11-09-2007, 10:40 PM 1BADBM, are they OEM? I'm looking for the same look and wondered what kind of M-Pars they are. The offset seem to be just right. My 18's are decent but yours look a little better.
bmr4me 12-27-2007, 02:49 AM I'm still wanting some 19x9.5's for the rear of my car with that deep lip.
bmr4me 01-14-2008, 04:26 PM Just to verify before ordering tires. Will my 530i Sport with stock suspension be ok as far as rubbing if I run the 275/35/19" tires on the 19" M-Parallel from Lakeshore?

yep - you'll be fine. You don't want to go any narrower than 275 on the 9.5" rears - the rim lip sticks out from the edge of the tire on 265s (which is what I have).
One word of warning - the clear coat on the lakeshore reps are pretty sensitive to brake dust. I got some minor pitting from brake dust after only a couple weeks of not washing the car, so you'll want to be careful of that. I'm gonna get some more heavy duty wheel cleaner and see if it's just hardened brake pad material or if it actually ate away at the finish. I didn't get anywhere near the same kind of wear on my old Monet reps with similar usage.
gumbi4u 01-14-2008, 06:18 PM Remember the tires will cost way more then the rims. I was going to upgrade to 19's and stopped myself since tires were really expensive. I think i will stick to 18's
Jason5driver 01-14-2008, 06:28 PM 19" tires don't cost that much more than 18"s in my opinion....
Its when you jump from 17"s to 18"s, it seems to be a big jump, in my opinion..

difference between 18s and 19s really aren't that much depending on the tire you're buying. My last couple sets of 19s have been General Exclaim UHPs which you can get in staggered fitment for a bit over $450 for all four corners. I've put about 15k miles on my current set of generals and they still have a fair amount of life in them. Great traction in the dry and wet and low noise.
bmr4me 01-14-2008, 10:33 PM Well, I'm a cheap ass, and I'm ordering a good used set of tires off ebay as I did for my M Parallels, being that I dont drive the car except on weekends and the tires I ordered off ebay has at least 7-8/32 on all 4 corners. I will do the same for the 19's for the rear as well. Waay cheaper and work just as well. Sorry, dont flame, its just the way it is. I've learned that as less as I drive my car the tires sidewall usually dry up/rott before they actually wear down and a lot of money has been wasted on my end buying new tires. So, I will have a rear set of 18x9.5 M Parallels for sale when I get the 19's in if anyone is interested.

Pictures of your car?
So, are you getting 19"s from Lakeshore Wheel and Tire?
Thanks!

Whoops actually I just doublechecked prices on tirerack and I my memory was a hundred bucks off - it's actually more like $540-$560 plus shipping (depending on whether you go with 265s or 275s in the rear - 275s are $11 more). I checked shipping and from their warehouse in Nevada it's $562 shipped to my door. Staggered 18" tires in 245/275 are only like $40 cheaper. Still though that's a great bang for your buck.
245/35-19: $130 each
265/30-19: $141 each
Total for staggered set before shipping: $542
I've had Kumho Ecstas in 18" before on my old 330CI and wasn't happy with them - poor wet weather grip and high road noise in comparison to my general UHPs.

good to know about the clear coat on Lakeshore wheels .. any pictures ?? btw, do you feel the heavyness of the 19" wheels .. I read somewhere these wheels with tires weight about 50 plus lbs ..

I need to go get some more heavy-duty wheel cleaner and go at the pitting some more. After I give a cleaning this weekend I'll post up updated pics.
That's probably about right weight-wise with tires. I've driven my old 528i with 19s back to back with my 540i with 17s and then after I swapped the wheels (17s on 528i and 19s on 540i) and there is negligible difference in "heaviness" in terms of ride quality. It's hard to filter out differences in ride quality between tires with such different height sidewalls and dynamic differences braking and accelerating though. I wouldn't be surprised though if you gain a few feet in braking distance going from 17s to 19s due to the physics of the heavier wheel not being able to follow road contours as nimbly as a lighter wheel (a thicker sidewall on the smaller wheel also contributing to this).

They are 18's, but I'm gonna go with 19's in the rear with the deeper lip. Another member just asked to see my car is the reason I posted pics of it.
bmr4me 02-29-2008, 12:40 PM What size tire for the front if I go with 19" M-Parallels?
mookish 02-29-2008, 12:57 PM What size tire for the front if I go with 19" M-Parallels?245/35, I never ran 275's in the rear, 265/30 were always ok and the rim didn't stick out (stretched look), some rub with 275's some don't. It seems like every car is different. And every tire shop I ever went to said 19's cost more than 18's due to the odd number. Some have even told me that a 20" tire could cost less than a 19'' tire.
Mad Dog 20/20 02-29-2008, 02:08 PM I need to go get some more heavy-duty wheel cleaner and go at the pitting some more.
Love the 19's. Car looks great.
I would NOT go with a "more heavy-duty wheel cleaner" if you think the clearcoat is weak. Wheel cleaners are basically just varying concentrations/strengths of ACID.
Think of your wheel's finish as you would the paint on any other part of the car. Acid would be the LAST thing you'd spray on your hood to clean its paint, right?
I'd try a good clay, cleaner wax and/or paint polish, and a switch to some low dust pads.
