The latest TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results have been posted. These are for the year ending September 30, 2007.
For the 2006 BMW 3-Series sedan, I have an average of 6.9 months of data on 37 cars. The stat of 84 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.8 per vehicle) is worse average for a 2006 model. Most troubling, the reported repair rate has been increasing with each new set of results, and more quickly than I see for other cars as they age. The next update will be in three months, and it will be interesting to see if the repair rate levels out.
For the 2007 BMW 3-Series, I have an average of 4.6 months of data on 50 cars (including 33 335s). The stat of 52 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.5 per vehicle) is about average for a 2007 model. This is worse than last time, suggesting that the repair rate may increase as the cars age as it has with the 2006s. For now, this repair rate is much lower than you'd expect from reading this forum :)
Everyone who has been helping out with this research, thanks, it literally wouldn't be possible without you. Those who aren't yet helping out, I hope you'll consider doing so. Larger sample sizes would make future results more accurate.
