View Full Version : Wind Screen?? XELENNT 11-07-2007, 01:51 AM Anybody out there have an OEM windscreen that they dont use that is in awesome shape including the storage bag that they would like to sell? MParallel 11-07-2007, 08:46 AM I don't think antbody is gonna sell the protective glass windshield that we all see through to watch the road. I think you mean the wind deflector. XELENNT 11-07-2007, 11:35 PM Poor choice of words I guess? But here in the US, a lot of us Yanks call the wind deflector a wind-deflector or more commonly, a wind screen. We usually refer to the front glass as our windshield. But thanks for the heads up. XELENNT MParallel 11-08-2007, 05:59 AM Ha yes...well it's no big deal of course, just handy when we know what part we mean :) As BMW calls it a winddeflector, I thought I'd use that term. juice2279 11-08-2007, 07:53 PM check ebay..i saw a couple the other day for cheap. trayson 11-09-2007, 01:50 AM I don't think antbody is gonna sell the protective glass windshield that we all see through to watch the road. I think you mean the wind deflector. Come on, you know that the protective glass that we all see through to watch the road is called a "WINDSHIELD". Part #51318174010, WINDSHIELD, CLEAR WITH ANTI-GLARE STRIP And you also know that over here in the states, we use the terms "windscreen" and "wind deflector" interchangably. Similar to how we use the term "trunk" and not "boot". Tires, not Tyres. Definitely more than one style of English! Interestingly enough, when I do a search for a "wind deflector", these are some of the hits that I get: http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/30059794/Images/Wind_Deflector_A.jpg http://www.wooddashexperts.com/images/wind-deflectors/wind_deflectors_4.jpg http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-hitches/trail-eze-wind-deflector.jpg http://images.buyautotruckaccessories.com/products/main/MainImage_WAoeBugShield.jpg Let's hope that he wasn't looking for any of the above "wind deflector" monstrosities! In fact, do a Google search on "Wind Deflector": http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=wind+deflector and on the first page full of search results, only one of them deals with what BMW refers to as a wind deflector (part #82129401740) Or take a look at all the items that Circle BMW sells that are "wind deflectors" http://www.circlebmw.com/cgi-bin/acc/acc.cgi?Code=214&Series=&view_records=Search But then again... Didn't we ALL REALLY know exactly what he meant? :nono http://i20.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/c2/3e/b953_1.JPG MParallel 11-09-2007, 12:41 PM Like I said, since BMW calls it the Wind Deflector, that would be the correct term to call it as we all have one thing in common....the brand of car and not the language. ;) palomino 11-09-2007, 05:46 PM whatever you want to call it, the bottom line is that most people that have one in good working condition are not interested in selling it. :) you might be able to find someone that is selling their car with it, and talk them into selling it seperately to you. sprocket1200 11-12-2007, 12:03 AM mmmm...wind deflector boltsm3 11-12-2007, 08:18 PM how about wind coming from the back deflector, just kidding jack328 11-13-2007, 06:50 PM I got mine from Ebay, $112.00. There are a few there now, good luck. |
