winstontj 11-06-2007, 01:48 PM I almost never post here. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.Looking for an intake manifold for an m20 to run tripple DCOE style TB's. If anyone has one for sale or knows of one for sale please let me knowthomasjwinston AT yahoo DOT comThanks!

jjgbmw323 11-07-2007, 07:09 AM Yeah I emailed them about the manifold with the individual intakes.
They are very slow in getting back to me about how much it costs and if they have them in stock....
winstontj 11-07-2007, 10:06 AM I got a reply yesterday... 1200 ZAR when I did a quick conversion that works out to be ~$184 which makes me happy - I replied and asked to confirm the exchange rate as well as how to purchase/calculate shipping, etc.If you are interested (I'm in Boston too) would you be interested in going in on the shipping and ship both sets together? I'm going to get two sets if it's really $185/set. I'll pay 2/3 of the shipping.
Rickysbmw320i 11-07-2007, 02:37 PM i would like to see some of pics of that

I want one, too! Maybe we can buy 3 and get them to your house - you'll ship mine domestic! I'm in Seattle. Would that work?
BruceH 11-07-2007, 04:05 PM I have seen pictures. Nice work. I was thinking of ordering too. No linkage tho.
winstontj 11-07-2007, 04:19 PM Hopefully they will get back to me soon - I really want to place an order. If you guys want to go in on shipping I would talk to them ASAP or we can use this thread to count up who, what when, etc... I'm happy to buy as long as I get money from you guys first.
jjgbmw323 11-07-2007, 06:50 PM Find out what the manifold and seperate throttle boddies cost and I will buy a set.

This is JUST the manifolds only in a DCOE flange pattern. Would let you run TWM, Dbilas, Jenvey, or custom like Suzuki, BMW (Bimmer), etc.
Price is ~$190 + shipping (from South Africa) for the manifolds only - no TB's, no linkage, no gaskets, no isolators (between TB's and manifold)...

Hi. Thats not what I wanted..but it might work.
I am looking for throttle bodies for an M20 and I do not know which one to use,
I do not want carbs.
He lists a manifold that uses Toyota individual throttle bodies.
This is what I want. Is that what you are talking about?
Second question: If you have that manifold that uses carbs - who are you going with...DBilas uses its own entire setup.
Big John 11-08-2007, 08:58 AM Whats wrong with the carbs joe?
winstontj 11-08-2007, 10:16 AM (I have to use vtunnel from work so my posts are a little off)Heard back from Rowland. Prices are as follows: 1200zar for manifolds, 450zar for shipping to Boston, more to ship inland. The Dollar is moving around ALOT and Asia's sell off of the USD last night may push this up to a $200 part by week end if the Dollar falls more. Current exchange rates are as follows as of 11/8/07 but when they actually charge my credit card they will take the exchange rate of that day. Today's excahnge rate is $0.1543 : 1 South African Rand (ZAR). 1200 ZAR is $185.16 and 450 ZAR is $69.41 (Including tax, customs, etc.) I will be happy to lead this purchase if others want to get in - I will be buying two manifolds. ++Also if you want references for me you can go to e30tech (a few know me) and look at the same username or go to the 2002faq and look there too. If anyone has any concerns with me brokering this deal I will be happy to forward emails from Rowland proving prices and/or I will be happy to give my personal info out to you if you email me. I'll also be willing to setup some type of escrow account (although I have never done this) or work with the forum Mods so that you are comfortable and know you won't get screwed. ++jjgbmw323 - this is a manifold only. If you are farmilliar with a 2002 and a 2002 dual side draft setup this would be the equivalent of purchasing a set of DCOE manifolds that webers bolt on to. These are simply cast aluminum tubes that have the M20 bolt pattern on one end and a DCOE bolt pattern on the other - you can purchase EFI TB's from TWM, Jenvey, Dbilas, etc. to run fuel injected. I am running EFI as well - I have no desire to run carburetors. I'll dig up a photo and post a link (if I can)+http://www.itrspec.com/PICS/ITR/ITB/ITB_10.jpg+Take a look at this photo. You are buying the lower black part (fabricated in the photo). The part that you buy DOES NOT have injector ports in them - you WILL NEED to purchase either DCOE carburetors OR ITB's (Jenvey, Dbilas, TWM, custom) that have fuel injector ports built into them just after the throttle plate as the picture shows in the top aluminum section.+Please let me know if anyone has any questions. I would like to get a head count soon and make my purchase ASAP so if you are in - please let me know how you plan to get me money... if it's paypal then you are going to have to add 3% because you get dinged by paypal. Figure $200 deposit to buy the part and get it shipped to the US, then we will work out the details of shipping, etc. once I get a head count and a shipping quote for multiple units from Rowland.+thomasjwinston AT yahoo DOT com OR winstont AT direxionfunds DOT comper person should cover the paypal 3% fee plus shipping to you anywhere in the 48 states and CAN via USPS Priority Mail (insured). $185 + 3% = $191 + $9 shipping = $200. This does not include the $70 to ship the parts from SA to USA. Once I get a he

Varden 11-08-2007, 11:44 AM that is a fine price for a triple dcoe manifold!
I'll be emailing them myself so i can use those triple 45mm dcoe webers i brought recently.
woohoo!!
Varden 11-08-2007, 11:59 AM i just did a currency calculation for 1200 rand to aus dollars.
$196....i am so in, i might buy two as well!
winstontj 11-08-2007, 12:42 PM I'm thinking that if we got 10 units perhaps they would drop down to 1,000 ZAR - but I'm not sure
rs4pro3 11-08-2007, 12:47 PM dang this is tempting, do you know if the port size is that of the eta or the 325i head? Also do they have the oil drain between cylinders 3 and 4 that runs to the block?
I would like to see the manifold is it set up for a left hand drive car ? I have 3 dcoe webers on my 323i and the manifold is only 30mm long and there is not much room to clear the brake booster like 5mm with 50mm stacks. the Distributor is real close too I have to take off one carb to get the cap off. If there long and go up and over the booster could be good. But shorter is best.
IS there a mount for the crank case vent? Is it cast for a 885 intake port or 200 port ?
winstontj 11-08-2007, 01:29 PM You'll have to email them. There is the oil port in the middle casting. Not sure about much else - it is plumbed for an ICV as well as a brake booster. I believe that this setup was intended for an e30 - so it may not work for anything other than the 885 head.I will be doing a brake booster delete on my e21 and running the bare minimum as this will be a race car. no emails yet so as far as I'm concerned it will be just me purchasing two manifolds on my own.

I'm in - just let me know when and how much (via paypal). I really look foward to this!
e21Jason 11-08-2007, 04:10 PM Hi
In europe most manifolds are downdraft as the dcoe's do not clear the LHD brake booster or steering coloumn, SA is RHD so it work checking the clearance.
My manifold is about 6" long and shapped like a swan neck, this lifts carbs clear above the booster & coloumn on a LHD car.
Jason
winstontj 11-08-2007, 04:50 PM are you saying this will not clear the booster then on a LHD car? I'll be running without a booster but I don't want to get others on board and leave them stuck with a part that won't fit...
e21Jason 11-08-2007, 04:56 PM Hi
The manifolds are quite short, it might be worth mocking something up to check or ask if they have ever been fitted to LHD car
Jason
winstontj 11-08-2007, 06:55 PM hmmm.... Well I know that I won't have a problem because of the booster delete and because the intake ports have been moved up 4mm (so the intake is up 4mm too). Would be nice to know if they have been fitted that way too. I will inquire now.
Varden 11-08-2007, 10:54 PM Rowland replied to my email over night, 1660 rand shipped to Aus, which works out to be $270-300 AUD and the middle manifold has the vent pipe fitting machined into it.
Yay RHD e21's!
jjgbmw323 11-09-2007, 12:08 AM Ok, If you can wait till next week for payment, and this think works with ITBS
(you have to show me who sells these and the linkeage) that I can get somewhere than I am in.
This will work for a e21 323i with 885 head and 2.9 m20???

1. Oil return is in place and open?
2. Fits LHD w/o any booster issues?

2. Fits LHD w/o any booster issues?
#1 - yes - oil return is there & open.
#2 - No idea... As this is JUST a manifold like the Dbilas one above so I know that the manifold will fit - your choice of TB/carbs and more importantly AIR HORNS will be the deciding factor. I will be running without a brake booster so I don't care. If you want to you could always purchase shortie air horns or bent ones...
weak dollar
it's only going to get worse. I was given a quote yesterday (Friday 11/9/07) of $685 for just the Dbilas manifolds - yes they are a true work of art... but no I can not reasonably afford them in my project. The cost of the Dbilas setup is the same as the Rowland manifold, TWM TB's, knife edge & lightened crank and pistons...
Marquinho 11-15-2007, 05:33 PM Is this happening? Let me know please! I need one and don't wait forever!
ariel2282 03-18-2008, 12:49 AM I have a set up on ebay
Marquinho 03-18-2008, 02:35 AM I have a set up on ebay
Does it fit 323 heads? Have you used the system in a LHD car?

Wow, if that fits the head of an m20, i would sell my carb set up and run these with MS.
jjgbmw323 03-18-2008, 06:39 AM They fit but who knows how streetable they are.
john320i 03-18-2008, 09:08 AM well I'll say this definitely counts me out as far as custom making them. I can't make them for any cheaper than that.
Rickysbmw320i 03-18-2008, 03:10 PM They fit but who knows how streetable they are.
on the website, it shows alll the different sizes you can run. i dont think they would be more of a problem then 3 carbs.
Layne 03-18-2008, 03:32 PM They fit but who knows how streetable they are.
Man up! j/k, but they should be much more managable than triple carbs. There is nothing inherently unstreetable about 6 throttles. If you have any probalem at all, it's probably because your pedal linkage has the wrong ratio.
