I'm looking for a good used ignition coil for my '82 320i. I'm having starting issues and I am trying the part by part method so I don't want to go new on everything until I identify the real problem.

Thanks

first cheak if sparking ok. remove a plug with engine off reconnect it to ignition lead. hold it with a pair of insulated handle plyers and wear gloves if u have some. get somone to turn engine on hold plug against metal on engine and see if it sparks. can do same for each plug to see if one ignition lead/plug has a problem. coils do fail but it would be last thing id cheak personally. first id replace dystribitor cap, rotor arm, ignition leads and plugs as all are service items. dont buy fancy plugs just standard single prong ones which are recomended for engine as have correct heat range.

I'll be there Saturday - will be happy to drop off a spare coil if you really need one. Are you @ BHS? My parents house is on Cold Spring (off Rumstick/Ferry). I'll be working on my e21 most of the day in Carver, MA but I'll be happy to stop by and lend a hand if you need it.let me know! (I'm Tom BTW... have tools, TONS of parts & live in Boston)
