View Full Version : This Michigan Winter
bbancsov 11-05-2007, 04:00 PM Alrite, who drives their bimmers in the winter? I'm waiting for our first big snow, when it happens all the DD bimmers should get together for a drive, or should i say attempted drive, and shoot some fun snow vids. All i'm saying is RWD + snow = fun.
gspdave45 11-05-2007, 05:18 PM You go ahead and have fun with that. I'll bring my Sub as the heavy support vehicle. :)

Skinfaxi 11-05-2007, 07:56 PM I'm 17, and this will be my first winter with my first car, which happens to be rwd. It should be interesting.
Bluebimma 11-06-2007, 10:18 AM The ti is coming out for the winter, just need some blizzaks.
Turbo Charg Dynam 11-06-2007, 01:00 PM The ti is coming out for the winter, just need some blizzaks.
I have your snows. 15x7 oem wheels and 1 winter old Hankook snows. 205/60/15. $250.
Todd
Bluebimma 11-06-2007, 01:08 PM I already have 2 sets of rims, and my 15s have a set of new triple tred assurances, but thanks for the offer.
The 5 comes out a little only after everything has frozen. Last year we drove it on a lake :D :D..... will never do again.
Good ol' 325is 5speed comes out to breathe durring the winter. Bout the only time she gets any love :(
spooltime 11-08-2007, 01:59 PM You go ahead and have fun with that. I'll bring my Sub as the heavy support vehicle.
:withstupi My Silverado is far more reliable in the winter than risking some other idiot plowing into my German sheet metal. ...like a rock, baby!
LittleBlueBMW 11-08-2007, 11:56 PM swapping to winter setup soon.
rirwan 11-15-2007, 10:01 AM Just swapped my tire set to winter's yesterday evening. Forecast says going to be flurries and scattered snow today.
LittleBlueBMW 11-15-2007, 10:22 AM Hmm I had a full on flat yesterday and it would seem, maybe a slow leak from the wheel itself. Plus side, new tire for 25.00. Bad, wheel might be done. No damage there so really odd. I do have all winter to sort this out since I am switching to winter def con 2 this weekend.
lachssilberbim 11-16-2007, 12:51 AM I heard its just suppose to rain all winter....
I was thinking about driving the e28 instead of the e30.... still dont know though.
Detroitlaw 11-17-2007, 01:51 PM I'm in!
I just had my winter tires put on too. I had fun last winter; hope for more snow this year.
I am pretty sure I met a few of you at the Champps/Somerset meet in the middle of the Summer.
jamesdc4 11-19-2007, 01:10 AM Alrite,

1. I do.

Hathaway 11-19-2007, 02:10 PM I drive my Bimmer year-round. Only got it stuck once, but that was cause it snowed about a foot overnight, and I decided to try and drive out of my parking spot without shoveling, and I had bald rear tires on it.
LittleBlueBMW 11-19-2007, 04:02 PM Snows are on now, just to save on last minute effort. Now to change the oil weight and keep rocking!
bbancsov 11-19-2007, 04:06 PM I just got some rear snow tires put on, and suspension this week, followed by an oil change next week and i should be good to go. When the snow starts piling up we'll have to have a small meet with some parking lot fun!
DSrugis 11-19-2007, 09:41 PM Got the ranger out for the winter...oh yeah, for the summer too. God, I need a replacement this spring.
Dave
OUDLES 11-20-2007, 12:37 PM I'll most likely be crusing in the new 540 this winter. I'm contemplating keeping my old 97 Talon around through the winter for the days that the snow is really coming down. A big part of me just doesn't want to throw down the money for snow tires on the bimmer. Maybe next year.
kainam00 11-22-2007, 01:40 PM Hehe, the M3 is scary enough on wet pavement with the tires it has on it now.
I'll come out in the Subaru to pull you guys out, I'll bring a tow strap :)

bbancsov 11-30-2007, 03:38 PM Barnabas?? is that you man???
Yea, who's this?
LittleBlueBMW 12-02-2007, 12:54 PM You know what is dangerous? Iceberg in the freeway. Broke my bumper, ripped off my JTD underpanel )actually tore through the metal), and bent my radiator.
I have called my insurance company and the appraisal is Tuesday.
Pics:
Damage: Cracked bumper, broken ducts, fog light brackets,

bbancsov 12-02-2007, 03:27 PM Ouch, wow that sucks, good luck with the insurance.
ButcherK33 12-02-2007, 11:54 PM NOOO!!!! Not the 323! That sucks! I would be so Pissed!!!!
LittleBlueBMW 12-03-2007, 07:08 PM Oh it will be better when this is all done. New M technic bumper, radiator (which has 123K on it) and an AC condenser. appraisal tomorrow. Hopefully they will be fair about how mcuh this is going to cost. A friend in autobody suggested that it could be about 3200.00 after parts, paint (blending), and labor.
It could have been much worse.
LittleBlueBMW 12-04-2007, 10:37 AM Hmmm. Had to do the estimate at Collex, formality.
I hear Stony Creek Collision will be the place to be. BMW parts only. So onto there tomorrow.
So far parts list: Bumper and all those plastic bits, Radiator, AC condenser, pusher fan
LittleBlueBMW 12-06-2007, 11:46 AM Estimates: 1600 from Collex (salvaged and recycled parts, repair bumper) ran away, fast
Stony Creek: 2600, all new parts, no fixing the nasty bumper
Fighting the insurance company now.
detroit635csi 12-12-2007, 11:00 PM got in an accident with my truck yesterday in the rain.... some effing 60 year old women in a ford fusion in the middle of the hood on like 3 mile and woodward turned right into a gas station from the middle lane whilst i was driving in the right lane... needless to say i would have straight up t-boned her if i didnt cut the wheel.. Still hit her at like 35... anyhow... got a call today... turns out she FILED A CLAIM AGAINST ME... wtf.. stupid women from the hood.... im pissed... i called the insurance company and set that straight... and filed against her... since i didnt get a ticket and she was at fault according to the police report... i hope her insurance goes up like mad after this... also hope her insurance has fun paying my 1k deductable... HA
sorry for the rant... but i feel better now..
AND NO the 635 WILL NEVER EVER EVER SEE SALT... she is sitting with a fresh coat of sealant and wax in my shop... bout to get the trans dropped and rear suspension pulled for some adjustments...
bmw buddy 12-13-2007, 01:53 AM I'm in!
I just had my winter tires put on too. I had fun last winter; hope for more snow this year.
I am pretty sure I met a few of you at the Champps/Somerset meet in the middle of the Summer.
I think I've seen you driving around Troy. My neighbor thinks of 350z's as gods chariot so every time I spot a E46 M3 I point it out to him so he shuts the hell up.
I spotted a black E46 M3 on Big Beaver going south on Rochester Rd, I think he had a For Sale sign.

That would probably be me. I live and work on Big Beaver. Say hi next time you see me.
I haven't had a chance to match up with a 350z, but tell your friend to get one and we'll give it a go!
I haven't seen the 'for sale' black M3. I usually see two different coupe carbon blacks near TGIFs everyday, and I usually see a silver coupe at Caribou/Potbelly. In the spring summer I see a red convertible with a black soft top all the time.
Last night I saw a very nice looking older four door M3 in a green color (it was a little dark) coming out of SBC/At&T I think. Lots of great views in Troy.
Detroitlaw 12-13-2007, 06:32 PM AND NO the 635 WILL NEVER EVER EVER SEE SALT... she is sitting with a fresh coat of sealant and wax in my shop... bout to get the trans dropped and rear suspension pulled for some adjustments...
Sorry about the accident. Your 6 looks great in that picture.

How is the battle going?
E34boyeee 12-14-2007, 12:27 AM I'm 17, and this will be my first winter with my first car, which happens to be rwd. It should be interesting.
im 17 and i have gone through a winter with my bimmer....needless to say it was intersting
LittleBlueBMW 12-14-2007, 11:47 AM Liberty Mutual is being difficult. They want to work off the cheaper estimate which never took into account the damage behind the bumper. Stony Creek is finding damage that collex did not. So they have to submit supplemental claims and the adjuster has to keep coming out. They will only replace one brake duct, one fog light bracket, etc.
I am getting the M Bumper but all the parts swap is $$$. I am hoping to get the car back before New Years. I need to call my insurance and make sure they are not writing this as an at-fault accident.
IceStationZebra 12-16-2007, 01:49 AM Lets boogie. New snow tires, lets slide outta town.
bbancsov 12-16-2007, 06:46 PM Yea, i just got stuck like 20 times and couldnt even make it out of my street in this snow. When we get a little less snowfall we'll have to have a meet. Everyone watch the news and next time theirs 2-3 inches, we'll hit the parking lots!
IceStationZebra 12-16-2007, 10:48 PM Well its only getting worse....
bbancsov 12-18-2007, 05:39 PM Looking at this weeks coming forecast. It says Sunday - Monday small snow showers. Depending on how much we get, anyone up for some fun?
lachssilberbim 12-18-2007, 11:55 PM wooooo snowwwwwww
If i see any of you guys drivin around or stuck ill give ya shove with the zinno e28!
:shifty
IceStationZebra 12-20-2007, 10:01 AM You gonna be able to keep up?
bbancsov 01-03-2008, 11:23 PM Some pics of some of my snow fun, this is the dirtiest this car has ever been :devillook, and is awaiting a nice wash, haha.

Detroitlaw 01-10-2008, 11:13 PM Congratulations, FINALLY, on your repairs!
LittleBlueBMW 01-10-2008, 11:21 PM SRS.
My new insurance (AAA) has that clause, no coverage for being on a facility designed for racing or high performance driving :(
rirwan 01-11-2008, 12:17 PM Kristen: I'm also with AAA, and have the same clause. No coverage in the facility of track.
What do you plan to do for the insurance?
LittleBlueBMW 01-11-2008, 12:28 PM I plan on not getting into any trouble :)
IceStationZebra 01-11-2008, 06:52 PM Car looks great. Can I put my summer rims on already?
IceStationZebra 01-13-2008, 03:26 AM So anyone with plans for 2008?
DSrugis 01-13-2008, 10:37 AM Yeah...buy another BMW. Miss my old one :(
Dave
LittleBlueBMW 01-13-2008, 12:27 PM Srsly Dave you need one. I saw a couple FI ones listed in the FI section.
bbancsov 01-14-2008, 09:22 PM Liking the M3 bumper, now just get those hamann's back on there, if thats what you had before (not 100% sure)
LittleBlueBMW 01-14-2008, 10:41 PM I do have the hamanns, just not for winter.
Ralliart 01-15-2008, 12:00 AM ^^^ So what ended up happening with the M3?
Gone to a happy new owner in Orlando Florida. :(

ravenelle 02-13-2008, 01:53 PM Yeah, the snow is getting old. I think we got spoiled the past few years with the little snow we had. Time to move to Hawaii.
IceStationZebra 03-04-2008, 12:10 PM Those empty parking lots with all the fresh snow will be missed.
IceStationZebra 05-04-2008, 04:23 PM Anyone have pics or clips of burnouts around the state?
