So I'm off to an interview for a software engineering job in Boston today... I like my current job in metrowest, but I feel like the one I'm applying for is a better fit, plus it's in the city.

I'm wicked excited!!!!!! :buttrock:buttrock:buttrock

What company is the position with? Me and Matt's other roommate (satanvsjesus on here, he came with us to bavauto) works in software development down by south station.

Well good news... got back a little while ago from an exhausting interview and I just found out that they offered me the job!!! :redspot:redspot:redspot Wooohoooo!!!!!! Hoorah for paying attention in object oriented programming class!!! :stickoutt

Working on salary negotiations and the like... Now the hard part - I just have to sit down, think it out and make the big decision... Pros and cons to either choice :shifty

Not only is the weather great, but cowbells are prohibited from Fenway.

Well - it's freezing for one. Of course, I grew up in Florida, so anything below 65 and I'm reaching for the parka. I guess I have to get adjusted in a hurry. Anyone want to take bets as to what my heat/hot water bills will be this winter?

NH - there's always room for more cowbell.

Well... after their HR department completely slacked off and took forever to get me an actual offer letter, and hours of discussing the pros and cons of taking it vs. staying here... Looks like we're going out for drinks people because I'm taking it. :D

It's a financial software company in South Boston. I'll be working with one of my buds from college in a well integrated development team of (now) five people. The pay spike is nice too - I am currently well off for a junior developer but if all the requirements are met to get my 15% bonus each year I'll be making a whole lot more than I am now. Might see that M3 sooner than I thought. :buttrock

So... give me until the end of the week to finalize everything; after that I say all the peeps who got jobs in Boston plus a sizable NE celebratory crew should go out for drinks!

CONGRATS!!! My company is moving out to Newton Corner... FTL. Downtown Boston is nice, Thursday night bartenders at The Place, Tias in the summer, McCormick & Schmick's $1 apps on Tuesdays, Sidebar weeknights $7 pitchers... Do you guys all live downtown too or commute from the burbs?

Good call on the M$S place for Happy Menu. Want to add that the hours is different for both places. At Park Plaza 3:30 to 6:30pm and 9pm to midnight Mon thru Friday. Good food for $1.95 to $3.95 of the bar menu.

at the corner of cambridge st and bowdoin st.... right near gov't center. bowdoin runs down the side of the state house up by the 21st amendment down towards gov't center. It's usually decent for wings. We usually go every week either mon or tues, but have skipped out a bunch since the sox postseason, gettin back into it as of last week. I don't think i'll be headin down this week, though.

I ****in love dives. There are plenty of awesome other places worth checking out as well. Red Hat is just a cool small dive with wings. I'm sure this next year it'll rotate to another place since we've been goin there for quite a while.

I love 21st Amendment - that place rocks.

Let me know if you guys are going next week and I'll try to make it. Unfortunately, I'll be at a client's office for the rest of the week in Andover.

Yeah now that I'm gonna be in the city you'll have to show me where all the dives are :D Arctic has to come for the first trip at least cause she's one of the 'newly employed in Boston group' :cool

ITG is literally right around the corner from where I work.

The Harbor area there is surprisingly full of software places.
