Hello All,

I am new to this forum and was hoping someone could provide some advice.

Yesterday, I did a very agressive launch in my 540/6 and a minute later I noticed smoke coming out of my hood. I pulled over and found a coolant hose had become disconnected. I reconnected the hose and toped up the coolant and there was no more smoke. However, now when I accelearte hard in first gear I hear a very loud sort of vibration/rumbling coming from the left side of the engine bay.

The problem only occurs above 2000 RPMS when you push down hard on the gas, and really only in 1st gear (however a bit can be heard in second gear). It does not happend when the car is at a stand still. I suspect this problem is unrelated to the cooling hose that became disconnected but I'm not sure.

What could this be? My initial thoughts tell me it could be a broken guibo or perhaps transmission or engine mounts. Advice is appreciated. Thanks very much.

the same thing happened to my car! i was driving hard on my 530 then my fan knicked my upper colant hose and it was leaking coolant everywhere, and smoke was coming out and everything. my car is getting repairs and i wont get it back till monday. i dont know about the soft vibration you got but i hope its nothing major? just get ur coolant system checked out...

yeah..the coolant system has been carefully looked at and there appears to be no issues here. I am just wondering about the vibration.

Is it running rough, or just having an odd noise?

it does not seem to be running rough...the ideling is as it ussally is and the engine is delivering power in the same way. also, it seems to really only happen in first gear. The sound can be compared to a very loud exhaust but i know its not the exhaust becaue it only happens when the car is moving.

Check to see if your motor or transmission mounts are worn/broken.
