My vert storage box cover is connecting with the rag top when opening, sometimes it gets stuck, sometimes it scraps past it. I have only had it 1 week and it does it intermitently but usually the first time it opens in the morning.
Do I have to replace the straps or can they be adjusted?

I don't think you can shorten the straps. That is not the problem!! The problem is that they have lost their elasticity. I have seen where some individuals have used elastic chords to help compensate. I plan an redoing mine when I put my new top on!!;)

If your top is in good shape, use the bungee cord repair. It makes the top work like new, and it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to do. Do a search on bungee cord for the instructions.

+1 on the bungee cord repair. I can't believe it took me over a year to do this. It is so easy and 100% reliable.

Hi, thanks for the replies.
The car was in BMW cardiff for a couple of days. They said that the tension straps needed repacing but that they don't do 'just' the straps. In order to replace the straps they have to change the whole lining!!!!!! Surely that isn't right, it just doesn't make any sense.

I have looked at the whole bungee cord thing and I may try that. It would be nice to meet up with someone in the south wales area who can show me how it is done. I could probably do it myself but am afraid i would mess it up and damage something.

What diameter of cord have you all used?

I used 3/16". Very easy to work with and cheap.

Thanks Bowler807, now i'll just have to convert that to millimeters. On a positive note BMW did replace the two hood 'catches' where the hood connects to the windscreen. That seems to have cured the leak on the passengerside a pillar.
However, on a bad note there is now water leaking (in huge drops) through the zip that holds the rear window in!!! I love my vert, only had it for 2 weeks but it's begining to be a high maintainance car already.

BMW cardiff also replaced something in my stearing column under recall. although I don't know what was replaced my stearing wheel is not as straight as it was. If I put the wheel straight the car drifts to the right. Not happy, so I will have to take it back.
