I currently have 275 35 18 S03s on the rear of my SSR Comps. I realize the 35 series are actually a tad (precise unit of measure, ha) smaller in circumference (2*PI*R) than the stock 255 40 18s. The smaller circumference is fine for acceleration emphasis; however, in theory it also racks up more mileage on the odometer since the wheel is actually making more revolutions per mile.

My question is does anyone have any thoughts on running 275 40 18s on the street? Is anyone doing this? Clearance problems on stock height (street setup) car?

Should be fine considering many are running 275's on 19s

275/35-18s turn 807 revs/mi.; stock 255/45-18s turn 803. That's less than 0.5% difference--not enough to worry about. 275/40-18s run 776 revs/mi.--that's 3% slower. There may also be clearance problems with them. Stay with what you've got.
