Hey Everyone!
On my way to work this morning I made a turn after stopping hit 1st gear fine then went to 2nd. Now I cannot tell you if there was a lazy shift or not but the gear engaged and I went along at a good pace then 3 seconds later BAM get slipped to neutral and RPMs when high (not too high, not worried about that just painting a picture). I then put it back and everything was fine. This is a newer tranny (was replaced at 35k) on a 2002 330Ci with 72k mi on it. When this happened the tranny made a thud as I am sure it always will when a gear pops out.
My question is, this a normal thing? Was kind of cold out and I have read threads about that happening but the car was warmed up, I was on the last leg of my route to work.
I just dont know if the tranny can slip out with a lazy shift. I have a sinking feeling that the car is designed to hold on to a gear once it pushes the tires.... But who knows
I KNOW YOU ALL DO thats the reason for the post, thanks in advance peeps!
