Hey Everyone!

On my way to work this morning I made a turn after stopping hit 1st gear fine then went to 2nd. Now I cannot tell you if there was a lazy shift or not but the gear engaged and I went along at a good pace then 3 seconds later BAM get slipped to neutral and RPMs when high (not too high, not worried about that just painting a picture). I then put it back and everything was fine. This is a newer tranny (was replaced at 35k) on a 2002 330Ci with 72k mi on it. When this happened the tranny made a thud as I am sure it always will when a gear pops out.

My question is, this a normal thing? Was kind of cold out and I have read threads about that happening but the car was warmed up, I was on the last leg of my route to work.

I just dont know if the tranny can slip out with a lazy shift. I have a sinking feeling that the car is designed to hold on to a gear once it pushes the tires.... But who knows

I KNOW YOU ALL DO thats the reason for the post, thanks in advance peeps!

Well, if the gear wasn't fuly engaged in the gate. It will pop out. The RPMs went up because your foot was on the gas, and it went into N...It might be bushing and bearings. Like mine that need to be replaced. But mine is at 106k and well yours isn't

Yeah I hope it isnt an issue and just bad driving. I am concerned cause the car was in gear and pushing the tires then a bang car suttered and popped out. ehhidunno
