Ok well at the moment i own a 2001 z3...

Summer is about to start soon in sydney, australia where i live.. So i wanna keep the convertible for summer.. But after that i wanna sell it as im sick of only having 2 seats..

Now my question is as follows..

My budget would allow for me to get say a 323ci with a few mods or say a 318i with more mods..

I was wondering how much roughly and decent turbo/supercharger setup would cost for a 318i..?

I understand there are alot of things involved so i would liek all this taken into account including labour..

Also what sort of engine swaps have been done with the e46's?

i know the z3s have had a range of engine swaps done including an ls1 v8 from a gto

If I were you I wouldn't even be considering getting a 318i let alone buying one, they are just way too slow. I'd rather get a 6 cylinder BMW, it'll probably have more/equal power than modded 318i and will cost you less overall.

323i would be the best bet.......my $0.02

Doen some reasearch.. Dont think i will be going down the 4cyl track.. Not worth it and really everything is built for minimal power on the 318s

Yea. Go with the 6cyl and then mod from there.

323ci for sure. You will be much happier with the inline six. You already have it in your Z3 just think of the 323ci as watered down Z3 lol. Honestly though, your Z3 is sic, I like it alot. Looks clean. It would be hard to part with if it were mine......

Yeah man i love my baby! they arent very common in sydney so it gets the attention from the ladies.lol

But im sick of only having 2 seats :( ill just enjoy the convertible over summer then i wanna get rid of it...

you could swap up to a 330...or take on the M3

best buck is supercharge it. best hp for the buck

Well its difficult in australia for me to afford an m3 for what u guys can pick up for 50 thousand we are paying 75 thousand minimum in australia.. Very expensive over here.. So an m3 is not an option.. Unless i go e36 which i dont wanna cause the styling is too old....
