alright...so i got an 84 528e 2.7L inline 6 and i was talking to some guys down at eurotech and i was saying how i might be getting a power flow intake. they said that it was a pointless buy and it wont help much. in the end they said if you want to put you rmoney into performance go for a full engine swap. i dont know what the hell a swap really means so could someone tell me how that works, and how much it might run me? i know it will probably be in the thousands of dollars range, but yeah...i just need help. im a dumb dumb

The shop was correct about the intake being a waste of money. You aren't going to be able to do much better than the stock intake, as it is already engineered very well to begin with. I wouldn't bother with a swap unless the engine is on its way out anyway. Just go turbo. :buttrock

Honestly, you'll be better off finding a 533/535. The money you'll spend on a swap will likely be more than pay for a whole car.

If you want to mess with the Eta motor, you can do the e/i head swap, or you can play with turbos if you like to tinker. Hell, if you really want to get adventurous, swap in a Ford or Chevy V8 and call it a day. Mmmmmmm, sleeper....(drool)

what all is needed with a turbo? intercooler? blowoff valve? im such a newbie at this...:\

You need a turbo, IC, BOV, and custom plumbing. Then the fun really begins. You need to reprogram the FI to feed the engine properly - this probably means going to a programmable EFI setup like Megasquirt. You might need different injectors to keep up with the airflow. And you'll probably want a bigger exhaust to vent everything properly. Oh, and by now your suspension and brakes will likely be completely overwhelmed by all the new power, so you'll need to upgrade them as well. Having fun yet?
