View Full Version : HELP! NY to Boston Wheel/Tire delivery
GraniteBMW 11-01-2007, 01:51 AM I live in southern NH and work just outside Boston. Got a great deal on a set of snows but the drive is too much. Seller is in NYC and if you are goin this way... a couple bucks for your trouble??? four 14inch wheels and tires. Thanks
S.A.B. 11-01-2007, 01:56 AM I can meet him in Hartford CT and drive them to Boston if you want. Down to NYC and back up to Beantown is quite the trip though.
GraniteBMW 11-01-2007, 03:52 AM Thanks for the offer, I hear ya on the drive though. I might just suck it up and do it. Never know who we might catch making the trip anyway. I appreciate it.
NHskibm 11-01-2007, 11:38 AM Hey, I've got a guy 20 min. out of NYC that I'm trying to buy wheels from!!! Maybe we could all work this together???
I think he works like 6 days a week and is talking about possibly meeting next wednesday. Not sure though..
SAB, what about driving to NYC (or just outside) and our sellers could meet you in like Bridgeport or something???
Then Granite and I could cruise to you in Hartford??? Or Vernon... mmmm... Rein's Deli.... Ahhhh....
SmellyGreek 11-01-2007, 12:27 PM Lol, I drove to Long Island and back in one day to buy some wheels once. Just suck it up and do it! That's why you own a BMW :stickoutt
NHskibm 11-01-2007, 12:44 PM It has nothing to do with not wanting to drive that far, I just drove to NJ to sell one of my cars and then drove a VOLVO back...
It has to do with the lack of time to do it. i.e. 8 hours round trip = 1 day
which is something I don't have time for right now.
I wish I did. I'd rather drive that than be stuck doing all the crap I have to do!!
S.A.B. 11-01-2007, 04:49 PM I would pick them up in NYC for you bitches. If it's more than one set though I'll need a heads up since I'll have to use the truck (which is not with me in Hartford). I could get away with one set of 14's in the vert, but that's about it.
Gas $ will be mandatory....I'm half-jewish...deal with it.

I full blown Jewish, so I'll need you to take a picture of you ODO before and after and I'll reimburse you at IRS rates, which I believe to be $0.38 a mile...
And I'm guessing some Rein's would be on tap for us Jews too...
The rims I'm hoping to buy are 16" with tires on them. I'll know better when the seller sends me an e-mail tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for the offer to help! MUCH appreciated!! I wish I had the time to drive to NYC and then the extra $$ to spend a night down there!
NHskibm 11-01-2007, 09:32 PM Update: Someone on E30tech has offered to help!!!
I'm going to try to get the seller to get them to Manhattan and then the guy in Manhattan offered some help to get them out!
Lol, rim relay. Awesome!
S.A.B. 11-01-2007, 09:35 PM I full blown Jewish, so I'll need you to take a picture of you ODO before and after and I'll reimburse you at IRS rates, which I believe to be $0.38 a mile...
Hahaha....touche.
Lol, rim relay. Awesome!
Don't ever say that again.
NHskibm 11-01-2007, 09:43 PM Don't ever say that again.
:shifty
GraniteBMW 11-01-2007, 09:46 PM Awesome, I'll pick up in Hartford for sure. Let me know if its a go and I'll buy em. Thanks!!!
S.A.B. 11-01-2007, 10:04 PM :shifty
Come on dude..."rim relay"???
That...just...sounds......wrong. :stickoutt
NHskibm 11-02-2007, 10:53 AM I'll restate... "Wheel Relay"
I understand about sounding wrong. Anyone that calls shaped skis "parabolic" isn't allowed to ever speak to me about skiing and needs to take their joey ass back to brockton or wherever they came from...
Black96m3 11-02-2007, 10:57 AM if that falls through, I got a kid here that will run them up to you if you pay him.
NHskibm 11-02-2007, 11:06 AM wow. that's awesome! Thanks!

PixMan 11-02-2007, 06:38 PM Speaking of snow tires....
I have for sale a set of (4) Viking (Norwegian) P185-R14 studded snow tires, mounted on somewhat ugly BMW Style TRX-2 5-lug aluminum wheels. They have one season on them, less than 10,000 miles.
$250
Anyone need a set of TRACTION?

waiting to hear from seller... trying to get him to drop in manhattan with someone from e30tech and then get you and e30tech to meet outside of manhattan and then I'll meet you in hartford and treat you to some j-o-o food...
Edit: just heard from seller!!
He is willing to drive rims to Manhattan to drop off with someone from E30tech.com
Are you still willing to drive to manhattan and then meet in hartford??
It looks like
seller delivers to manhattan---> manhattan (kish) meets with SAB---> SAB brings to hartford---> I pick up in hartford!!
That's a great relay!!
What is your e-mail address so I can add you to the e-mail that is going around with myself, the seller and kish??
Thanks!!!
S.A.B. 11-03-2007, 12:11 AM PM sent skibum.
Granite shoot me a PM if you want in on this too.
525iT_Feen 11-03-2007, 12:37 AM Speaking of snow tires, I have a set of four Rondel Mesh wheels in 15 with blizzaks that have less then a season on them. The wheels need a refinish but i'll take $100 for them if someone wants to come grab them from my house in Roslindale. They would probably look really nice if someone invested some TLC.

rims look great. too bad they are 5 lug and the offset would work on my e30, i'd run them this winter... $100 is a SWEET price (read: anyone with an E36 should snap these up)...
I'll keep everyone posted on this thread about wheel pick-up and deliver dates from their multiple points, could make this sort of a mini caravan.
All I know is that if this gets pulled off it goes to show all those old fogeys out there that shun the internet that it is truly a great thing. This could not have been pulled off even 10 years ago without this web 2.0 stuff (official term for these forums and such - learned in my MBA coursework)!
S.A.B. 11-03-2007, 02:25 PM Skibum I replied to your email.
I'll probably be taking the truck, so anyone who needs anything shipped up from NYC that will fit in the full size bed, let me know. (Legal items only please..you'll have to call someone else for drugs&guns).
NHskibm 11-03-2007, 02:34 PM crap! I was going to be getting some plutonium with the rims!
(oh, and got your e-mail in return!)
PMPNX5 11-03-2007, 04:30 PM Howard, if you don't think they'll fit nicely it the e46 (being that it's a hardtop and vert is much easier to load) meet me in Burlington here, and we can take the X to Hartford.
NHskibm 11-03-2007, 09:00 PM Thanks rob. I may take you up on that!!
PMPNX5 11-03-2007, 10:01 PM Thanks rob. I may take you up on that!!
Just let me know, you got my number.
...and I got your radio harness.
NHskibm 11-05-2007, 04:12 PM Rob, you around thurs or sat?
S.A.B. 11-05-2007, 05:39 PM Howard,
I have some type of email from guys named Wilfred and Kish regarding a pickup point by the seaport in Manhattan.....can you confirm? I better not get hijacked by 2 dudes in drag!
All kidding aside...I need an address and a time. Wednesday works for me.
PMPNX5 11-05-2007, 06:40 PM Rob, you around thurs or sat?
Saturday is good, not really during the week as I have work, and my dad is sick so I'm by myself at the shop.

:rofl2
It looks like Kish and Wilfred are meeting at noon at the seaport. I know Kish is going to limerock on Thursday if that is easier for you than going to the seaport. Or you could meet kish wednesday night I'm guessing as well.
I leave it up to you to work it out with Kish so it's easy on both of you.
Saturday is good, not really during the week as I have work, and my dad is sick so I'm by myself at the shop.
And then Rob and I could come meet you in Hartford Saturday lunchtime or something if that works???
But I'm wicked pumped about getting these Alpinas!!! They are going to look siiiick on the E30 when she's all done!!!
:alright
Rob, sorry your dad is sick...
S.A.B. 11-05-2007, 09:33 PM Limerock is right on the way to my parents house in woodbury CT. I'll email Kish and see if he can meet me off the highway at a convenient exit.
Anytime on Saturday works.
I live in Enfield which is just North of Hartford...so if you're coming down 91 south it will be easier to meet you of off exit 48. If you're coming from 84 west, then it will be easier to meet you in Hartford. There is a place called The Trumbull Kitchen right in downtown that would work for the swap...but we can figure those details out later.
NHskibm 11-05-2007, 11:16 PM wow, I had a girlfriend from woodbury in high school, and I knew a bunch of people from trumbull... insane...
looks like things are coming together!!! awesome!
Thank you!!! We'd probably come down 84 from the pike...
S.A.B. 11-06-2007, 02:26 AM That's crazy. I went to HS there for 2 years before going back to NY for college. I prob. know her.
If you're coming from 84, Hartford will the place. I sent Kish an email and I'm waiting on a response. Worst case scenario, the wheels can sit in a heated basement until you can get them :)

I shouldn't do this... But the girl's name: Alaina Shames... I was 18 and dumb... What can I say??? I even went to the prom with her (she was 17 and a Junior)... I then went to college with this chick Darcy something from Woodbury as well.
Yeah, definitely coming from 84... Sat works for me (assuming you have them)... Rein's in Vernon??? My treat for the Jewish gene in us...
S.A.B. 11-06-2007, 03:46 PM Small world. I remember both of them. I think I had a chem and English class with Darcy.
I haven't heard anything back from Kish yet. I may have to take a rain check on Rein's...as soon as I drop off your wheels I'm headed to NYC.
NHskibm 11-06-2007, 05:12 PM Kish just dropped an e-mail looking for Wilfred's number. Are you getting his e-mails?
Funny that you know them. When did you graduate high school? Were you at the 1999 prom, if so we both were!!!
And was Alaina cute? Please tell me she was... not another k-hellen...
S.A.B. 11-07-2007, 02:27 PM Howard,
I'll be meeting Kish tonight at 11:30 at LMR to pick up the wheels. I'll drop you an email when I get home to let you know how it went.
I did graduate in 99 and went to that prom...it was at some country club-type place right? I can only put a face to Darcy...I remember Alaina's name but not so much what she looked like...hmmmm may have to break out the yearbook and scanner! (kidding).
ESMcBlurM3 11-07-2007, 02:37 PM And was Alaina cute? Please tell me she was... not another k-hellen...

Doesn't frighten me with the yearbook and scanner...
Thanks for meeting with kish tonight. MUCH appreciated. What time best works for you sat??
It's helen with a k:rolleyes

I used to forget the names of the HOT girls I slept with, let alone know proper spelling!

PMPNX5 11-07-2007, 04:16 PM How far is it from Boston?
S.A.B. 11-07-2007, 04:31 PM How far is it from Boston?
I've done the trip in an hour....but to be safe I would leave yourself 1.5 each way.
NHskibm 11-07-2007, 04:52 PM Yeah, from burlington to Hartford (depending on where we meet) I still vote reins (even if seth can't stay) as I want some damn latkas and some matzo ball soup.
Rob, if you can't do it no worries. I can fit one in my trunk and 3 in the back seat...
Seth if noon works for you that would be perfect for me..
PMPNX5 11-07-2007, 05:05 PM If you want company I'm down for the ride.
Do they have kanish?.....pardon my lack of knowledge in the dicjoonary, but you know what I mean.
S.A.B. 11-07-2007, 05:14 PM Noon works fine. I'll figure out a good spot right off the ramp so you don't have to tool around hartford looking for the Trumbull Kitchen.
S.A.B. 11-07-2007, 05:17 PM What size are these Howard. I might just put them in the vert if they fit.
NHskibm 11-07-2007, 05:27 PM If you want company I'm down for the ride.

They do have kanish, and blinztes, and corned beef... but if you're not a true believer...
I'm down, we'd have to leave at like 10:30.
Noon works fine. I'll figure out a good spot right off the ramp so you don't have to tool around hartford looking for the Trumbull Kitchen.
We could do exit 67 off 84? or we could come south of Hartford. Whatever.
What size are these Howard. I might just put them in the vert if they fit.
16" with 205/60's on them i believe.
S.A.B. 11-07-2007, 05:31 PM Cool. I'll take the Avant to get them then.
I'll get back to you about the exit #. I'll take some pics tonight too when I get them.

Wherever you feel safe leaving your car works for me. You can leave it at my garage if you want, off exit 34. It doesn't mattrer to me.
NHskibm 11-07-2007, 10:44 PM fine with me!
S.A.B. 11-08-2007, 02:00 AM Holy f*@k Howard!!!! Are these real?
Safe & sound in CT.
Although I'm wildly tempted to go buy an e30 and disappear with these wheels.... :)

I was laughing at your e-mail, and I'm laughing again at this post. I didn't realize that I didn't tell you what the rims were...
Yes, they are real... And I think for now they are a secret to all of NE. I was hoping to have my car back tomorrow from the body shop to take to CSP on Sunday but I don't think it'll be done so no showing off the new rims just yet...
I was giving kish a hard time about disappearing with those wheels too!
Anyways, thanks again, MUCH appreciated. I can't believe that these wheels have made it through the relay!!!
Just let me know what exit works for you on Sat. My offer for some j-o-o food at reins (exit 65) is still open... GOOD stuff...
PMPNX5 11-08-2007, 12:58 PM Yes, they are real... And I think for now they are a secret to all of NE.

NHskibm 11-08-2007, 12:59 PM I'm going to go with SUSPENSEFUL without pics..
GraniteBMW 11-08-2007, 02:58 PM Guys, sorry for the delayed update, I emailed the seller and he SOLD them already. Damn! Thanks again for all the help you guys. Couldn't get to the computer, 90Hour workweeks suck. I got a flat pulling out of the driveway yesterday. to boot.
S.A.B. 11-08-2007, 03:54 PM Granite - Sorry the deal fell through.
Howard - How about meeting at the Trumbull Kitchen at noon on Saturday? Here is the mapquested address:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=150+Trumbull+St&city=hartford&state=ct&zipcode=
It looks harder than it is to actually get to.
If that doesn't work for you, you could always just jump on 91 north from 84 west and get off of exit 48 in Enfield. There is a Friendly's on the right as soon as you get to the end of the ramp.
Let me know what works.
NHskibm 11-08-2007, 04:41 PM rob?? does this work??
PMPNX5 11-08-2007, 06:34 PM That sounds good to me, Trumbull Kitchen at noon. Meet at my garage at 10:30?
S.A.B. 11-08-2007, 08:35 PM See you then. I'll be in a silver a4 avant. I'm pm'd you both my cell if anything changes.
