I guess I suck at searching, but I couldn't find what I was looking for...
I was wondering if anyone knew about how much parts would run to do a 6 speed swap on a 97 540...
I know i've seen some links in the past, but can't seem to find them.
if someone remembers where they're at pease point me to them. thanks!

there is one person on here who has done it but the consensus is if you want a manual buy one..a swap just isn't parts but also electronics, very expensive...

Sell and buy a 6-speed. MUCH LESS hassle.

I've put too much money into my car... i would loose a lot of money if I bought another one cause no one would pay me what I've got on this one... i figured it wouldn't be easy, but I wanted to learn a bit more before I ruled out that option...

Enjoy your autotragic 'cause you're gonna lose money on this deal unless you just stick with your current setup. As bkphoto stated...very expensive because you have to do the electronics and I'm sure you'll have to do the diff as well. Otherwise the gear ratio won't be correct...

Here is a link to a shop that has done it in Atlanta. http://www.performingimports.com/index.htm Maybe you can call and talk to them about it. Good luck. Let us know.

Trust me all that money you put in will be nothing compared to the headache, and money to get everything running perfect. My local shop did the swap on auto 540 to 6 speed, and it costing the guy more than expected, because the new ecu thinks it's in the car it came out of.
