Check this out - its a description of what went into the design of the M3 exhaust. Written by the subcontractor that manufactures the exhaust for BMW.

That is interesting. They went to alot in designing that exhaust. I dont think i would change it if it had an e-46 m3. But then again nothing beats a nice rumble.

I wonder how it sounds like. I havent heard an e-46 m3 in person. Does it sound deep? or it is like everyother factory exhaust

It sounds no like no other exhaust I have heard. Very high strung tone, my friend with a Z06 calls it a pissed off weed wacker.

Like a high rev chain saw especially when the engine is cold. UUC is suppose to come out with a new exhaust. A prototype soundbyte was posted on here that sounded very good. Don't know when it is coming out, how many it will cost though.
