Well I got my first BMW a few weeks back. I got a 1987 535i in pretty good condition for $2000. I found this web forum and thought that I could learn some things before I start to throw money into the car. I have a few major questions and once I get a better understanding of the car I'll start looking at details.

I am in Victoria, BC Canada so that may help you answer my questions

1 - Online parts shopping. Who is good, bad, cheaper, pricey, etc.

2 - Ideas. Where can I find pictures or articles showing projects similar to my car

Try MyE28.com - they're a bit cliquey, and can be less than patient if it looks like you haven't done a search, but is probably the best repository of E28 info on line.

They also have listings of good parts suppliers, though US-centric (which is OK given our loonie these days).

Use realoem.com for parts research. Just type in the last 7 digits of your VIN and you can find parts and suppliers
