Here's a funny and strange story.

I ordered a new 2007 Z4 Coupe and had it built to my specs. After about 1.5 months the car came and it was just what I wanted. After about 2 weeks of driving it and putting on about 380 miles, I noticed a small, about the size of the palm of your hand, paint blemish. Seems that they probably didn't clean off all the oil residue on the door panel and when they painted it, the paint didn't take completely. It was hard to see at first but once you saw it, you saw it.

I took it to our dealer and they saw it immediately. Said they could repaint it and all would be fine. Well, if you ever had a metallic paint job done on a car, you can always tell it is a patch paint job. They can just never get the metallic paint to lay the same way and reflect the light the same way.

So I asked for them to take the car back at full price and I would upgrade to a Z4M Coupe. Those two weeks also told me I wanted more power and all the goodies. The dealer was great and so was BMW according to the dealer.

The final deal was I was going to have the Z4 Coupe taken back at full price, and I could purchase the new Z4M Coupe at wholesale costs and and any options I wanted would also be a wholesale costs. So I ordered everything but the HD radio.

Now I am back at the waiting game and should have my car by the end of November or sooner.

I have had new cars from 1984 on and never had a dealer and company do something like this. I am really impressed and pleased with BMW. Now I just hope the new car will not have any problems like that.

Wow, thats pretty amazing, What dealer did you go through. I bought a brand z4mc at Kuni about three weeks ago. It was by far the best dealership experience I have ever had. I am hoping it was Kuni,

So what color M Coupe did you get, and what interior trim?, you will definately like the extra power.

Yep, it was Kuni BMW in Beaverton, Oregon.

My first car was the silver grey metallic, but for 2008 they didn't offer it. So I went with the sepang bronze color with the light tan extended leather.

Did you get the red one they had on the showroom floor? I saw you driving away if it was you.

Yea the extended leather is very nice, I saw it for the first time a few weeks back. Nope I bought the black one they had kinda on the side "show room" area, still in the building. I think the guy drove off in the red one the same day I picked mine up..

Well they have been busy selling M coupes this last month. Only a few more weeks of waiting for you. Go ahead and order up a clutch stop, clutch delay valve delete valve, trust me if you only do two mods, those are the ones you want. If you dont, you will feel like a newbie with a manual everytime you go for a drive.

Congratulations
Chris.

Vey nice, I have had mixed emotions on my dealer experience. BMW NA, is another story though, they seem to be top notch. Congrats on the upgrade.

Chris,
What is a clutch stop and valve? I was thinking of adding the engine strut brace. Any thoughts?

Probably because there are massive dealer incentives on the Z4 M right now and the dealer is still making a lot of money on it.

"Wholesale" price is never really wholesale price.

Yeah your probably right. Dealer cost is what I should have said.

Not to say you didn't get a great deal. I think after a point the buying experience and customer satisfaction is a lot more important than the exact price you pay. To me, my happiness is a lot more important than a couple thousand dollars over a few years.

Just wait until you hit the service department. Your opinions will change lol.

Yeah if I didn't care about the color, interior or finish trim, I probably could have saved a bundle on a 2007 Z4 Coupe. One dealer here had one for under $40K but didn't like the color, interior or finish trim.

Won't have to worry about service for 4 years or so.
