I went to it last weekend, and if you weren't there, you really missed out. It was a gathering of the BMW, M-B, Porsche, Audi, & VW clubs...Alot of very nice cars, kinda like a back to 50s for German cars with a good mix of the high-end from each marque. A few of the cars...Z8, Z4, M5 Touring, SL55 AMG, 4 2002's including mine, a Bavaria, M6, Dinan 535, some guys with very tricked out VW rabbits that could probably whoop on any of us, a new Maybach, an original Maybach, all kinds of Porsche old & new, new S4, a Porsche with a blown chevy V8 sticking out of the hood, nearly 100 cars total...an E30 M3 took home the prize for "People's Choice", and one of the rabbits got 1st (which is kind of a shame considering...). Come visit the North Star BMWCCA website (http://www.northstarbmw.org) to see a bunch of pictures I took. And hey, if you really want a good time, come out to the driving schools...I'll be taking my 02 on the track for the first time at the Aug 1st Advanced Car control clinic (did it this spring with the 325 and it was awsome :alright ), hope to see some of you there. mikeyz325 06-18-2004, 09:14 PM Has anyone even been busted in MN for not having the front plate? I've seen one around Hopkins when I lived there too. edit...nevermind Mikeyz325, couldn't have been you in the 2002. Gary328i 06-29-2004, 02:16 PM I got a no front plate ticket on my 300zx a few years back at the U - while parked. Also did the M50 manifold to the 328 this weekend. Niiiiiice. High rev band (4750+) kicks butt. We found it easier to install the injectors one at a time and then attach the fuel rail afterwards. Worst part of the install was putting a BFH to the coolant line off the block to get the oil separator back in and getting the stupid manifold brackets to line up right. Other than that, very smooth install. We did before and after mass airflow readings, and there's a big difference. And I was planning on going to the Northstar summer picnic that Bob mentioned. hope to see you guys there. mikeyz325 06-29-2004, 06:41 PM I have a set you can have... I went last year and it was a great meet of BMWs, far more than you'll probably find all year anywhere in MN (and free food). And you're almost gauranteed a door prize because we ususally have so many sponsors give us stuff (like Motorwerks, Sears, Frozen Rotors, Stearling Enterprises, etc). And if you have a really nice car, you might get top choice of the really cool prizes. Oh, and the club also has bi-weekly "Regular Informal Gatherings" on Thurs. Here is the info from the northstarbmw.org site: SUMMER BBQ, CAR SHOW & NEW MEMBER RECEPTION SUNDAY, JULY 11, 2004 11:30 A.M. ? 4:00 P.M. ALIMAGNET PARK IN APPLE VALLEY Our annual summer festivities will be moving south this year to a more private site and they we be more encompassing. While fine food, fine friends, and four-wheel euphoria are still in abundance we will be adding some interesting twists. Firstly, we have incorporated our welcome to new members into the summer event. Everyone who is a veteran member is encouraged to come and welcome our newest bimmerphiles. All recent members are encouraged to come and meet your fellow chapter members and see their rides. Secondly, we will continue to stage our less-than-intense concours, but it will incorporate our designated charity, the Cancer Kids Fund. This year we will vote by making donations to the CKF. Each dollar donated is one vote for your favorite car. Much like Mayor Daily elections, you may vote as often as you like. The food, oh yes the food. We will have typical picnic food fare for your epicurean pleasure. The chapter will provide food, soft drinks, plates, condiments, etc. By tradition the chapter President presides over the grilling. The chance to see this should be reason enough to come out! Our generous sponsors and supporters will provide door prizes. The booty list is not complete but historically your chances of going away with a prize are very good. Be sure to stick around for the drawing. It really help our planning if we had an idea of how many people will be attending. Please send an email or call ?Coach? Neumeg by Thursday July 8th if you plan on attending. Contact Dick Neumeg socialevents@northstarbmw.org Here is basic info about the gatherings: REGULAR INFORMAL GATHERINGS TO MAKE THEIR DEBUTS Want to find others who share your BMW appreciation? Want a chance to just see other Bimmers or to swap stories? Just want a chance to hang out with other great people? Here is something new to give you those chances: regular but informal gatherings. These gatherings are “on” regardless of official club events that may be taking place at that time. You run the risk of being the only person or being one of one hundred, but just show up if you wish. The agenda is simple: there is no agenda. Whatever is the whim of the folks who gather at a particular time will be the activity (or no activity) of that gathering. You could do a follow-the-leader cruise. How about an impromptu tech session? Perhaps folks would enjoy a come-as-you-are concurs. Surely some would favor just munching and telling others of a great ride they just had. Perhaps all of these could occur at the same gathering. Because this is Minnesota it makes some sense to have both a summer plan and a winter plan. Summer nights are for cruising and the weekends are busy. Winter nights are cold and dark. Because we Bimmerheads are spread out over a wide area, it seems wise to have an Eastern and a Western spot. With that in mind, here’s how it will start off (modifications will be made if necessary). First Thursday of the Month, May Through September (5/6, 6/3, 7/1, 8/5, 9/2) 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. (come and go as you please) Denney’s just East of Motorwerks on the South Frontage Rd. of 494 4209 West 80th Street, Bloomington 952-835-7476 Third Thursday of the Month, May Through September (5/20, 6/17, 7/15, 8/19, 9/16) 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. (as you please) Denney’s just South of 694 on White Bear Avenue 3050 White Bear Avenue North, St. Paul 651-777-6497 In the winter we will use the first and third Saturday mornings and begin to gather at 9:00 a.m. We can try to gather the cars together in the outer reaches of the parking lot. coolio4433 06-29-2004, 09:38 PM Interesting... Pretty hard to find a good collection of MN enthusiasts anymore... Well, if you check the Neuwerks (http://www.neuwerks.com) forums, they've got another one cooking for next sunday. Thats where today and last weekends drives were orchestrated through. Today was pretty small, short notice and all, but we had a GTI, an R32 and a Mk2 Jetta, and my Benz, which had a little trouble keeping up with those younger cars, I definitly got it drifting around some of the tighter corners in my attempt to over come my 1000+lb disadvantage, but it was fun. Next week is going to be bigger I think. Not nearly as big as Volksports fall tour (91 cars  ), but big enough to have a good variety of cars hopefully. http://www.neuwerks.com/albums/october-9th-fall-drive/IMG_0020.sized.jpg http://www.neuwerks.com/albums/october-9th-fall-drive/IMG_0009.sized.jpg jasonwachtl 10-10-2004, 04:33 AM Hello everyone, Long time, no see. Figure I'd drop by to see how everyone's doing around the boards even though school takes up about 14 of 24 hours each day for me. I think it's been gone a little more than a year now since I moved from U of Minn to U of Iowa for Pharmacy school (insert joke here about Iowa...go ahead, I can take it). Hopefully, some old buddies are still around who remember some of the meets on University and places in between. I still have the pictures that flash by every now and then on my desktop of everyone's cars that I've ever met up with. The last meet I remember by the pictures was dated 7-11-03. Paul-///Mevil (still can't thank you enough for helping scrape that paint off my calipers for hours on end!!), Sherif, 993Targa, Killrbee, etc. Give me a shout back if you're still around!! Anyway, as a few of you knew, I got a new(then) 2003 330xi by the lemon laws for my 2001 330xi that had a tons of problems from the start. Now that I've had some time to invest $$ and labor, I have a bit more modded car with 19" rims + grippy tires, a new UUC TSE3 exhaust for test fitment on Xi, Benfer CAI(from old car), and other little fun stuff here and there. Next project is to put the H+R Springs on that are sitting the closet...otherwise I've been quoted about $360-$400 to put in springs only from 4 different places here including one that works only on modifying BMW's - Simpson Motorsports (sorta like Orr I guess to make some kind of comparison). Well, hopefully all is well with everyone as I have about 30 pages of reading to catch up in this Minn topic alone. Hope to see some familiar faces again- sorry this got so long, I've been studying all day and night so far! Gary328i 10-14-2004, 05:28 PM Add Sta-bil to a full gas tank, disconnect the battery or remove it entirely (but don't let it freeze), inflate the tires to near 40ish psi depending on what they can take to avoid flat-spotting, block your exhaust with steel wool so the mice don't take up residence (others may do the intake as well). I haven't had trouble with mice in the interior, but some people put D-Con in there to kill them if they do. Throw the car cover on if you have one and that'll do fine. I'm not sure about fogging the engine, some will reccommend it, I have never done it. Gary nmoe 10-15-2004, 11:32 AM Was it an e36 with euro clear lights and fairly dark tinted windows?
