I want to learn how to replace my front rotors, pads, and all the brake lines. I understand this is going to take some time so I'm wondering if someone who has experience in this department can show me how to do it in exchange for a couple packs of nice beer. You can email me at alanleung100@hotmail.com and we can talk more about it. Thanks.
joshE46 04-07-2003, 08:56 PM You're lucky if you got away without any damage. I can relate multiple instances where they ruined rims and or tires for nearly everyone I know, including myself. I watched some dumbass kid trying to mount an 18" Michelin on a Hamann HM2 rim, and the tire machine marched him all the way across the floor, it was unbelievable. A sledgehammer would've been more delicate.
Anyway, if anyone needs tire work done and can't get into Hopkins Firestone, I highly recommend Samaritan Tire in Minnetonka.
I got the M3 front clip painted and assembled! Looks great. I was able to get OEM paint, so with the panel painting we did, the match is perfect. Basically the car is complete now, just a few odds and ends left like installing the X-brace, TME's and clutch stop. I'll post some pics once I get some.
Josh
Alex.M 04-07-2003, 10:15 PM I think we all come to an agreement that Firestone in Hopkins wins. I have never heard any complaints about them.
Another thing, should I go back to Tires Plus in Ridgedale and ask them where did extra 10 miles come from? :)
I doubt they were supposed to test drive the car after mounting new tires.
Carb_328 04-07-2003, 11:00 PM ahh yes, samaritan is the other good place. I forgot about them. I think they are near 169 and minnetonka blvd.
you might want to check on the 10 miles. they may say that they drove it and then re-torqued the wheels. The fellas at discount tire said there is no need to do that with bmw wheels though. According to them, you can torque them while in the air. I don't know if there's any truth to that though.
M triple 04-08-2003, 02:57 AM Alex, sorry to hear about the extra mileage. I have always been satisfied with the work they have done for me at the ridgedale store. But now that I think of it, I have never actually taken my car there, I have always just taken my wheels and tires there in my truck to get them done. Call me anal, but I just envision someone crossthreading one of my hubs or rashing the inside of the lug hole or something.
It may be worth your while to give the Manager a call and see what he has to say about it. Maybe you can persuade him into a rebate...;)
M triple 04-08-2003, 03:04 AM I forgot to mention, If anyone is interested in getting their car on a dyno next Friday, April 18th, let me know. The local VW guys have set up a group dyno day at Elite in Minneapolis for $50/2 pulls. I will be there with my car to get my water injection set properly and to make sure that my AFR's are in check. I am pretty sure they could use a few more cars, so let me know if you are interested and I can pass on the info to the guy who set it up. The sooner the better.

Let us know how your runs go.
toussi1 04-09-2003, 09:36 PM So where and what time should we all meet on Friday?
Anyone have a 325XI for sale. My brother is looking for one.
M triple 04-09-2003, 09:48 PM Yeah, Friday is supposed to be NICE!!!!!! I'm game, somebody decide where and when...
toussi1 04-09-2003, 09:49 PM Can everybody do 6:00?
jasonwachtl 04-09-2003, 10:48 PM Yea, I'm open this Friday...maybe we can hit up Porky's on University or something? 6-ish or 7-ish sounds good. Never actually been there, but drove past and there's aways nice cars around on fri and sat nights. Maybe even some ricers we can pick on
Another friendly reminder, everyone wash and Zaino-ize, or just wax, your cars since it's summer now to get rid of the winter crap(unless you have a garage queen)!! I did mine on Tuesday.
Alex.M 04-10-2003, 12:43 AM 6pm sounds good. I can also stop by for a little bit. What's Porky's?
M triple 04-10-2003, 12:50 AM I dont know if we will be "appreciated" at Porky's. It is usually reserved for the muscle car crowd. I am not sure how busy it will be friday night but we may want to meet somewhere else in the Midway area, possibly down at the other end by Kmart?
Alex, Porky's is a Drive-in restraunt that is the epicenter of the whole Midway scene. Like I said above, its packed with muscle cars and motorcycles...
Carb_328 04-10-2003, 09:38 PM well, I won't make it on friday, so have fun all. I'll throw out a couple suggestions since I work almost next to porky's. I would do as m-triple suggests and shy away from there. Also if you go to far down the road you will end up in frog town and may not be welcomed there by the rice crowd. Definately be careful down that way. k-mart area might be a happy medium as suggested. There is a Leanne Chin there too if you need some food. Be careful and have fun guys.
Frankenstein 04-10-2003, 09:51 PM FWIW - My buddy and I always would roll through porky's in our supras and got plenty of love. One time we had an M coupe in tow. As long as you have the right attitude you can park in/around porkys... The White Castle lot on Lexington is rice central.

toussi1 04-10-2003, 09:55 PM So whats the deal? Porky's at 6:00? I guess its not to hard finding each other, just look for a BMW
jasonwachtl 04-10-2003, 11:45 PM As long as no one minds, Let's do kmart parking lot as our initial meeting place, then we can decide what we want to do from there(cruise around town, beer, Porky's, different location, etc). Seems like it would be the easiest place to meet up and has a huge parking lot so we can have our own little corner to hang out in. It's located on the south side of university ave and albert street. Address is 1450 Univeristy ave. Is this ok with everyone?
I'd say a good meeting time would be between 6 and 7, so that there's still enough light out but getting close to dusk. Can kill some time cruising around as a big BMW caravan if we want. Nothing much happens around there until 9 anyway. I'll check back tomorrow afternoon for more posts to see if this works with everyone--chime in if you're planning on showing up too! Later folks
toussi1 04-10-2003, 11:48 PM I'll be at Kmart.
M triple 04-11-2003, 12:17 AM Me too, I will be there sometime between 6 and 7 with my buddy in tow with his S4...
Gary328i 04-11-2003, 12:21 AM You guys have fun - I'm a little messed up from sinus surgery today, so I'll be hanging out at home for while. Somebody bring a digital camera and post some pictures for me...
Gary
M triple 04-11-2003, 12:28 AM Ouch!!!! Hope you feel better!
Gary328i 04-11-2003, 09:55 AM Thanks. The Vicodin helps. :blackeye:
drummerboybisch 04-11-2003, 10:21 AM LIke gary said someone bring a digital camera along with them and snap some pics for us that wont be able to make it. Hope you guys have some fun causing trouble.
MN_98M3/4 04-11-2003, 11:05 AM Count me in I'll see you guys at Kmart round 6:30.
jasonwachtl 04-11-2003, 01:12 PM I'll bring the digital camera. Sorry you guys can't make it, but we'll see you around soon enough going into the summer. If you change your mind, feel free to still drop by. Weather is looking awesome, high of 68 today!
joshE46 04-11-2003, 01:59 PM I'll see you all there around 6:30/7pm or so. Gotta go pick up the g/f first. I'm sure I'll find you easily enough with two Dakar M3's and an Imola Yellow S4, you'll be hard to miss!
Look for M3NTAL, that'll be me!

Sramnath 04-14-2003, 10:06 PM Heveryone I'm new here but I was out on the midway briefly this pastweekend I have a 02' 325Ci I was out there with my cousin he had the silver Corvette but anyways my name is shawn and I'm in the army I leave for over seas on June 23 so I hope to see you guys before then and meet some of you.
Carb_328 04-14-2003, 11:00 PM Welcome Sramnath
I ran across this (http://www.mnsportcompacts.net/newforum/viewtopic.php?t=7941) on MNsportscompacts.net. They're having a meet this coming sat. at 2pm at starring lake park in EP. Just thought I'd share that with anyone who might want to go.
jasonwachtl 04-15-2003, 12:07 AM Carb, What is that meet all about? Are bmw's welcome there? Seems like it's more of a honda crowd? Has someone heard of this/done this in the past? I might be interested in going just to check out some other cars...
Carb_328 04-15-2003, 01:10 AM Jason...I think the crowd is mostly honda and vw. I have never been to one of their meets. I was just checking out their page and ran across the meet. There is one guy that has a white e30 m3 from Plymouth that is pretty active in that group. I would say all cars are welcome. They are all about sports compacts, not any particular model. Let me know if you decide to go. I may run over there for a few minutes. It's like 3 minutes from my house.
drummerboybisch 04-16-2003, 05:31 PM Well I just got home for Easter break and have a nice box waiting for me with my xbrace in it. Cant wait to put it on this weekend.
M triple 04-16-2003, 06:21 PM Nice, best $100 I ever spent...
drummerboybisch 04-17-2003, 03:33 PM M triple IM curious to know if you still have your silver M3 for sale and if so whats the price and just the general info about it? Thanks
M triple 04-17-2003, 04:21 PM Its in the paper right now for $22,900. I have been driving it the last few days and I hate to sell it but I really need to get rid of this thing to free up some room in my garage and pocketbook. The car is very clean, arctic silver/mulberry, lux package, forged wheel option, HK, heated seats, basically everything except the CD changer. The car has just under 58,000 miles on it.
At this point(market sucks), I would consider any reasonable offer...
Bob
PBalla 04-17-2003, 04:38 PM i want it, lemme check my oh wait no money
good luck dude
is the side fender supposed to indent like that?
drummerboybisch 04-17-2003, 05:31 PM Hey M, do you have interior pictures? Do you have other pictures of the exterior? IF so, please send to drummerboy@mn.rr.com. Im very interested in upgrading from the 328 and have started looking. Also any accidents?
Carb_328 04-17-2003, 05:31 PM If only I could sell my car, I'd pick up yours Bob. But like you said, market sucks right now. Sell my car for me and I'll buy yours :biglaughb
Good luck. I'm sure someone will pick it up.
M triple 04-17-2003, 07:10 PM The original owner had a minor fender bender 3 months after she bought it. The only reason I know this is because I requested the entire history from Sears. The damage was to the drivers front quarter but I dont know where or to what extent as it still has the original sheet metal. For this reason, I am sure it was very minor, it still has the same serial numbers as the rest of the car. The work was performed by Sears and is very good.
Heres a pic of the interior to give you an idea of what it looks like, and if you want to stop out(Plymouth) this weekend to see it, you are more than welcome to take it for a spin and I can answer any questions...

Not at all. You need to mount the blind rivet nuts (nutserts) for the front four bolts and then it bolts up with ease. If you decide to get one Id lend you a hand.
toussi1 04-22-2003, 09:06 PM drummerboybisch,
How loud is you exhaust? I need to compare to someone else. I just got this rogue engineering exhaust on the car and its too loud i think. Heck, i set off 2 car alarms in a parking lot... is that normal.
drummerboybisch 04-22-2003, 09:48 PM AA is fairly modest decibel wise. At idle its fairly quiet almost stock with a slight rumble. At WOT it screams but it is a tuned sound...not deep but not whaa honda sound. If you want a ride to hear it, just let me know. Im curious how yours sounds cause sometimes the AA is too quiet for me, oh well. Lets get together sometime and check them out. School is done in 3 weeks and Ill be home unless you are coming up to the AARRF track day this coming weekend in St. Cloud which by all means let me know if you are up here.
BTW, I think you are at the U, do you live in the cities the rest of the year?
toussi1 04-22-2003, 10:07 PM If your willing to trade exhausts i might consider it but i need to know how loud the aa is in comparison to the Rogue?
M triple 04-22-2003, 10:57 PM I just put on my UUC TSE and I love it!!!!
drummerboybisch 04-22-2003, 10:57 PM I dont know if ID trade my AA cause I do like it but well see. Hey do you have AIM? My SN is BMWturbo328.

JohnH 04-25-2003, 12:07 PM Anybody here in the Twin Cities have Daylight Demon Eyes from umnitza or Jim Powell?
I finally did my ZKW, HID and DDE installs over the last 2 nights, and would like to compare to someone else's. I have to say, my rings are not too bright, especially compared to the pictures I've seen. Wonder if I'm not doing it quite right. M triple???
Thanks,

M triple 04-25-2003, 03:15 PM John, what generation od DDE's do you have?
JohnH 04-26-2003, 10:48 PM I've got Gen. V DDE's. I purchased them back in February and just got them in this week. I had them do the install on the rings in my ZKW's so I can be reasonably assured that's not messed up.
It just seems kinda dim. The HID's are nice though, and I can't say enough about the customer service from umnitza.

We should. We should almost do an install fest for everyone and all parts. Not to exclude anyone. Im sure there are a fair amount of people that are going to have summer parts they want to put on. Just a thought.

Sounds like a plan...I've got a benfer intake, clears, and springs to install in the next month. If we could assemble a group of people together, everyone's install would go faster plus we could combine tools/experience for everyone' benefit. The only bad part will be timing when everyone has their stuff. Regardelss, there's still no way I can do springs on my own....I'll need help
We'll talk more about this in 2 weeks or so once we all have our parts. Get them on order soon so we can do this mid May!

Jason,
I haven't been to University Ave. for a quite sometime, but I do go there once in a while to eat there...

Sorry for the random question, just that I told a guy with a 96 green auto M3 and I thought his name was Luke to come check out this site...just on the off-chance it might have been you....
///Mevil 04-30-2003, 03:39 PM Speaking of University Ave. Does anyone want to gather this Saturday? Either during the day or in the evening? I'm up for a pseudo meet of the BMW kind.

jasonwachtl 04-30-2003, 09:22 PM Sure, I can do Sat. Night preferred
drummerboybisch 04-30-2003, 09:31 PM Man Im gonna miss another one. Only 1 1/2 weeks of school left tell Im home for the summer. After this weekend's one, we should plan a summer gathering, with a BBQ or something.
///Mevil 05-01-2003, 09:18 AM Saturday night it is then. What time is good?
Bob, What's up your car? Are you working on the SC belt?

:D
Where is the meet? and time etc.. Saturday is going to be a nice sunny day
M triple 05-01-2003, 11:36 AM Paul, yep I am trying to get the car back to 6.5 psi. I have had some minor setbacks though, so I dont know if the car will be running...
jasonwachtl 05-01-2003, 12:19 PM Location for Sat....the Kmart(now closed) parking lot worked out well for the last one as a meeting point. I think they tore the big Kmart sign down, but it's near Mervyn's and a bunch of other chain mall stores. Intersection is University and Albert st.
Time: how about 7:00? We can chill out for an hour or two checking out rides, shooting the shit, then go cruising around in a big BMW caravan once it starts to get a little darker out. Maybe a bar afterwards if everyone is up (and legal) for it??
Hopefully we get a similar turnout as the last one(10 Bimmers) and meet some new faces. I'll bring the camera again.
See you there....
///Mevil 05-01-2003, 05:21 PM Jason 7pm sounds cool. I'll see you guys there.

Did you guys went on cruising afterward I left about 7:50pm...
jasonwachtl 05-05-2003, 03:51 PM No, nothing much happened after people started leaving. Not much of a "meet", but at least I (we) got to see some new faces.
We'll set up another one with about 2 weeks advance notice(I'm guessing end of may?) so we can get the 15+ or so people in the Twin Cities who attend this board to show up all at one time.
On another note, I'm happily awaiting my benfer intake which should be shipping today and drooling over pictures of the H+R springs that I want to order next week. Hopefully they'll both be done by the next meet. Later folks

Gary328i 05-13-2003, 08:52 AM I got a tiicket at the U (night class) for no plate on my 300zx once. Probably best to keep it on (I think the ticket was like $70)
///Mevil 05-13-2003, 10:05 AM Those fixit tickets have increased to a healthy $110 now. I don't run my front plate, but I have a really good story cooked up in case they pull me over for it. When I was pulled over almost three years ago they didn't even notice that I wasn't running a front plate. They did tag me for the window tint however.
Paul
jasonwachtl 05-13-2003, 04:28 PM Ouch $110 for not running with a front plate, that's kind of harsh. I guess they have to make some money somewhere.
Just put it on, it doesn't look THAT bad to be paying $110 once a year for getting pulled over for it. That could be good mod money down the drain...
Paul, you're just lucky to get away with it! So what's your story in case you get pulled over? By the way, I pm'd you about something...
We should start sending out some advance notice on when the next meet will be so everyone can show up. Does either Fri the 23rd or Sat the 24th work for everyone? Or is some time in June better for everybody? I want a full parking lot of BMW's this time(all 16+ of us who frequent this board)!

We should all be there. I think they will be impressed if 10 bimmers roll up.:evil2
Has anyone used Eurotech at New Brighton? Any positive / negative feedbacks?
I have been running the car without front plate since new. Cops usually don't pull you over for just that but it's very likely for one to write you up for that along with a speeding ticket.
joshE46 05-13-2003, 05:56 PM I've never run front plates, and have always had illegal tint. I got a fixit tint ticket way up in Hibbing once, some years ago. I got pulled over specifically for my front plate on my 328Ci last fall in Edina, but just told the cop that I had a car show the previous weekend and hadn't put it on yet, but fully intended to. He didn't say anything about the 35% tint. He let me go. I saw him opposite to me at a light, and he did a quick u-turn right behind me at the green, so I knew it was for the plate. I was just sincere about it, and he was cool, even though I was lying about intending to put it on, the car show bit was real though! It helped to have the stickers in the windows still, and the car was clearly not average.
I once got hit in Wayzata in my Corvette without any plates as it was just purchased, but the 15% limo tint was so dark the cop couldn't see the yellow 21-day permit. He didn't care about the tint at all, just wanted to make sure it wasn't stolen. Good Cop, you get a donut.
I love living around Lake Minnetonka! Cops don't care about you if you drive a nice car, they typically leave you alone.
Peace,
Josh
///Mevil 05-13-2003, 11:00 PM Jason my story is just that of Josh's. I tell them that I'm going to be in a car show or have just been in one.
Mr. Man Yep I had them do an oil change on my wife's 328. They do good work but don't expect them to do any aftermarket stuff as the owner will jack up his rates for that. If you want to do aftermarket stuff just go to Orr Automotive in St. Louis Park.

jasonwachtl 05-13-2003, 11:00 PM I won't be around on the 31st, but feel free to do it then if it works out for everyone else....there will be more meets this summer anyway.
I just talked to someone at Eurotech and oh boy, what an attitude. I did my best to work with him in scheduling and tried to have him give me a call if something opens up in the afternoon. He told me "No, it doesn't work that way. You make your schedule around my shop's." Apparently they don't need any new business. Definitely a place to stay away from.
Gary328i 05-14-2003, 10:38 AM Never heard of them. I always go to Orr, so I suppose I have blinders on.
Orr has very good customer service and very good service...

Orr is fine. Except that they don't let customers go onto the floor anymore while their cars are being worked on. Eurotech is very close to where I work so I figure I'd give them a try but that's unnecessary afterall. :nono

Turboricecooker 05-20-2003, 08:48 PM Hey guys..
i checked with Orr Auto. today regarding to my spring/shock installation. They charged me $1550 for labor with products (eibach pro-system) for my e46 325ci.
I'm thinking of asking if any of you are experienced at shock/spring can give me a hand in install..I can pay you guys, rather getting charged an arm and a leg for installation.
Let me know if you know other shop that could do the installation well and less $$$
Thanks
Gary328i 05-21-2003, 08:42 AM Are you only replacing springs? If so, don't pay them. Springs are easy. The only thing you should have to pay for is goodyear or somebody to disassemble and reassemble your struts. Wrenching on the car takes a while, but it's not very difficult. I took my car apart on a Friday night, brought the struts in Sat. morning, and reassembled within a few hours - and I did springs, shocks, shocks mounts, struts, and sways.
Turboricecooker 05-21-2003, 09:24 AM Wanna give me a hand once i have them ordered?
I haven't checked other places; just checked at ORR since they specialized in BMW..they charged like $600 or so for labor.
I'll pay you!!! :)
Gary328i 05-21-2003, 09:50 AM What part of the cities are you in? I'd be happy to help if scheduling works out (which might not be easy considering I'm putting up a deck on my house starting next week). I'm in Savage. You can always break it up into two sessions, rear springs, which should take maybe an hour and a half, and the fronts, which will take a few hours because you have to remove the caliper, rotor, and detach the strut. Then it's off to Goodyear for 15 minutes of their time, which will cost you ~$80. I'm booked though the weekend so, send me an email early next week and we'll see what our schedules look like.
Carb_328 05-21-2003, 09:07 PM which might not be easy considering I'm putting up a deck on my house
Hey, i'm doing the same thing in about a week or when my wood comes in. we oughta have a deck install fest. :biglaughb
joshE46 05-22-2003, 01:24 PM Kevin, I'll do your springs for half the labor of Orr, $300. I've done 3 different suspensions in an E46, two Ci's, and an Xi. I've done an E30 and two M3's. So, I've been down all the roads. I have all the equipment and I know the Ci's like the back of my hand, since I had one.
In case you're wondering, yes, it's me, the guy that was going to trade you for your M3 :) You've been to my place, so I'd need you to drop off the car. I can do it in an evening. I'm busy relaxing in the summer, so time is money. I'd be happy to do it for you, but it's not worth it to me to deal with it for less than that.

All of this area is torn to shreads. 494 is asking for trouble, HW 100 is down to 1 lane in some area its terrible.
M triple 05-28-2003, 12:48 PM MN_98M3/4, I saw your car at Orr yesterday. I stopped in to make an appointment for my UUC flywheel/M5 clutch/new tranny install and there was your car up on the lift getting the same thing done!! I would like to hear your comments on how the car drives and if there is much chatter.
The guys at Orr seem really good although I got quite a bit of flack from them about not buying the parts from them. They said they would make an exception ONCE!! They were actually quite serious about it which bothered me a bit. They said something about being in business to make money or something to that effect... :az:
Gary328i 05-28-2003, 02:37 PM You know, I was thinking about that same setup (m5 clutch, uuc fly) for later this summer when my mostly toasted clutch finally gives in. I was wondering how much labor they'd charge. Hope they'll do it for me even though I'm getting my parts direct, as I'm not so thrilled about hanging out under my car for a clutch replacement job.
Gary
Squeegie 05-28-2003, 03:03 PM A question about Orr -- I asked them once on the phone whether they'd install parts that I had purchased from a different vendor. They replied in the negative. How are you guys getting UUC parts installed -- do they order them from UUC? How does it work?
-Trent
Gary328i 05-28-2003, 03:43 PM I suspect you can order UUC through them, but have never had them install anything that wasn't factory spec. I was once on the schedule for m3 rear springs that I was supplying, but I did it myself once I had the torx bit to remove the rear half shafts, saving myself $100.
KILLR B 05-28-2003, 07:56 PM Orr has installed every product that I have brought to them and every product I have asked them to order and install. I have had every after market mod done on my car done by Mr. Matt Litchfield, Certified Master Mechanic of BMW automobiles(Matt so happens to also be a BMW enthusiast). The install work has been IMPECCABLE and SUPERLATIVE.
Matt has also done alot of custom fabrication(i.e. replacing my 48 pound OEM battery with an eleven pound wheel chair battery and repositioning it about a foot lower and virtually in the center of the car on the floor of the car behind the passenger seat with a custom bent aluminum housing; a masterpiece!).
The KILLR B has undergone so many changes in the last few months that it is virtually unrecognizable as the car it used to be.
Through Matt's efforts the KB has blasted more than 4.5 seconds off her best time from last year(before major mods) at the MN. Highway Safety Center(MHSC)! The KB is only 2.9 seconds from the track record and owns the second fastest time ever for a street car at MHSC(actually the record holder was probably not street legal as it was running "R" compound tires which are not DOT legal for street use). The MHSC set by a C4 Corvette rumored to have over 400 HP and possibly as much as 600 HP and driven by a driver with over 20 years of racing experience and winner of the '02 One Lap of America in his division. The KB's feat has all been done with only minor motor mods and all motor at 275 HP; imagine if we had the 400 HP ESS supercharger system!!!
If the question is do I have Orr do the install is sorta asking if I should perform surgery on myself. Was it done right? Will that critical component fail? Where is my warranty for the work if I screw it up? Will the manufacturer of the component cover failures due to improper install? How much more time did it take me than Matt at Orr? Did I really "save" $ by installing it myself? How valuable are my Saturday and Sunday afternoons? Wouldn't you rather be driving the Ultimate Driving Machine than working on it? etc. etc.. The collective knowledge about BMW's on this board fails to equal the knowledge Matt has in the tip of his pinky about the same.
Come to the track and see the results of the Master's Mastery: You will simply shit your pants. You will say: "I never knew an E36 M3 was capable of such performance!!".

James, did you actually dyno your car??? I pulled off 284rwhp with my supercharger at Elite. Just curious what motor mods you have done to be as close as you are to my numbers.
I am anxious to get my car out on the track to run against the KB. Keep me posted as to when the next AARF event is.
I personally would rather work on my own car than have someone else do the work. Working on my car is partly why I own my car, I sincerely enjoy working on it. I do know my limitations however and will not attempt something that I dont feel comfortable with. The tranny/clutch/flywheel is just such an install that I would rather have someone with the right tools and experience tackle the job. But for the price that I was quoted to install my powerflex bushings ($900 at Orr), I think I wil tackle that job by myself thank you very much.

I just ordered my AA RTAB today. Im excited to get them, and was thinking of doing the install my self while I do my coilovers. How hard was the install and so forth?? Just curious what Im getting into.
JohnH 05-29-2003, 12:57 AM I personally would love to get in on some kind of RTAB replacement/install fest if we can get someone who's done it before. Then if we wanted we could buy/rent the presser tool to make it easier on ourselves. I don't have any new bushings yet but was leaning towards the stock ones with the Ground Control inserts.

Gary328i 05-29-2003, 10:00 AM I'm feel the same way as M triple here. As long as you know your limitations as a mechanic, bmws are actually pretty easy and somewhat fun to wrench on. That said, a lightweight flywheel and clutch replacement sounds like more than I want to do. Hopefully Orr will help me out when the time comes, as they've always been very cooperative.

KILLR B 05-29-2003, 04:41 PM I have not dynoed the KB. The numbers I quoted are(estimated) crank HP figures from Software, CAI(custom design), exhaust, bored out Throttle Body, HFM, Fan clutch delete(custom intake shroud mods) and air conditioner condensor/compressor removal(no belts).
Keep in mind we have removed 500+ pounds from the KB. Every highly modified component of this car functions much differently than a stock M3.
The next AARRF event is on June 07, 2003 at St. Cloud. All who want to see how little they really know about high speed performance driving, come join us!! Best $60.00 you ever spent. No comparably priced performance mod will improve your driving as much as a day at the track.
M triple 05-29-2003, 11:01 PM James, I may be there depending on whether or not I get my brakes done. I am anxious to get out there and use my experience from my Justin Bell's school last summer in my own car!!!!
Sucks that it falls on the same day as the German car show in Hastings though...
KILLR B 05-29-2003, 11:35 PM Many more events are scheduled this summer, fortunately. When you get out there take it easy. Iwould be happy to show you the line at DCTC, MHSC and BIR if you would like. This may be useful for you given the virtual identical setup of our cars. Let me know!!
Alex.M 05-30-2003, 01:31 AM I will try to make it on the 7th.
I always wanted to go to a track, but never got around it.
Looking forward to to exploring the wonders of the penis-mobile.
:)
Also, James, I took a look at your car when it was undergoing some stripping at ORR. Jeez, you have no interior left! :) I bet it is louder than hell inside, eh?

ERIC JOHNSON 05-31-2003, 11:57 PM KB , just curious what your lap times were at BIR. Did you say that you had identical set up as M Triple, I know both cars are Dakar yellow. Do they share any thing else in commom ?
p.s I can`t wait to take delivery of my 03 LSB M3 in july, Bob you should have fun making me look slow.

MN_98M3/4 06-01-2003, 01:26 AM Bob,
I have been traveling and just got a new computer so I haven't checked the board in a while. I only have 60 miles on the new setup and so far there is next to non chatter coming for the uuc fly wheel and the cluch is very tight. I reminds me of the 2003 Carrera I drove last summer in the way that the m5 clutch engages.
There is a noticable change in the speed that the engine revs up making the throttle response great. I am going to try and put a few hundred miles on the clutch prior to putting the AA supercharger on later this month. The next the next project is to put my exhaust on in the next two weeks
The installation work for the fly wheel and clutch ran around $750 from orr. Matt did a great job on this.
drummerboybisch 06-01-2003, 02:19 AM Eric not to sound stupid but whats a LSB M3? Never heard of the LSB designation before.

This is good news as there has been ALOT of talk on the E36 M3 board about the chatter. My car is going in on Thursday for the same install plus a new tranny and some Turner sway bar mount enforcers.
I finally got around to doing my Prospeed BBK this weekend, what a f*cking PITA!!!! Hopefully I will have the car back together for my appointment at Orr...

HAHA Yea a little slow from all the insulation fibers I breathed in today. Installing all the wiring for our new garage flourescent lights. Its SOOO Bright now, I feel the sun is out when in the garage. Cant wait tell the floor is ready for cars...we just epoxied it last weekend and it should be fully cured by tomorrow.
As for the LSB, i was thinking lightweight something and was just confused, so i gave up and figured id ask.
ERIC JOHNSON 06-01-2003, 11:35 AM Insulating , sounds like good times , but will be well worth the itch this winter, but lets not talk about winter! As for LSB I asked at one point too.
KILLR B 06-01-2003, 05:38 PM My best time at BIR was about 2:02.4xx. This however was with a 180 pound instructor riding along and both passenger and driver side windows completely down. I figure if I was alone and both windows were up, I would break 2 minutes. I have heard sub 2's at BIR for a streetable car is phenomenal.
A LTW M3 with an experienced driver(winner of his class in the '02 One Lap of America) was doing high 1:50's.
KILLR B 06-01-2003, 05:44 PM The KB sounds like a race car inside. We have taken the entire interior except for the headliner and dash out. Some sound deadening material glued to the floor remains but that is about it.
Carb_328 06-01-2003, 09:32 PM Just curious if anyone is going to mazda rev it up next sat? I'm scheduled for the 10am course. Good chance to beat up someone else's car, even if it is a mazada.

Sramnath 06-01-2003, 10:44 PM when is everyone going to meet up again
MN_98M3/4 06-01-2003, 10:56 PM I signed up for the Mazda Revit up on Sunday group 14a @ 9:40.
drummerboybisch 06-02-2003, 01:01 AM What does everyone think to another meet of all the MN members? I think a saturday or sunday down by calhoun or harriet in MPLS would be a cool place to meet up and get some cool pics.
M triple 06-02-2003, 01:29 AM There is ALOT going on this saturday. For starters, AARF is running up at MHSC in St. Cloud, There is a German Car show in Hastings that is being put on by the MB club, and the "The Big Show" is being put on by the Mill City Cruisers at the Minneapolis Auto Auction in Maple Grove.
All sound like alot of fun!!! I think I am going to go to the show in Maple Grove as it has all sorts of different classes of cars. It would be nice to have a good showing of BMW's...
drummerboybisch 06-02-2003, 01:54 AM I wasnt meaning this next weekend specifically but sometime in the coming weeks.
PBalla 06-02-2003, 10:48 AM no :D
jasonwachtl 06-02-2003, 11:56 AM We'll figure something out for the next meet....When is everyone available in the upcoming Friday's or Saturday's? Or a better question is when are people NOT available? We'll schedule it around that once we get some info...
Gary328i 06-02-2003, 12:07 PM I was out for a walk yesterday and saw 2 M3s full of side by side on a little side road off Boone Ave in Savage chatting with each other. One was a M4/3 in Estoril Blue with mismatched rims, and the other was a black 2 door. I figured that could have been someone here? I think I've seen the black one on Boone before...

Carb_328 06-02-2003, 10:35 PM I'm in town this weekend but pretty busy, out of town the following weekend (14&15). Otherwise available.:redspot
M triple 06-02-2003, 10:46 PM I'm available pretty much anytime.
M triple 06-03-2003, 05:45 PM If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be interested, I am selling the black contours off of my M3.
I would really like to sell these to someone local. If you want the details follow the link below...

Gary328i 06-03-2003, 11:53 PM Your black rims look like they'd hide the brake dust well...I'd be curious if you had a straight on side picture of your car or rims, which I could cut and paste onto my car pics to see how they'd look. I have the 10 spoke M3 rims on a black 328, kinda curious about what black on black would look like...either that or swap them on and see. :-)
Sramnath 06-04-2003, 04:23 AM well so much for me meeting up with you guys I leave for Bosnia on the 23rd
M triple 06-04-2003, 10:43 AM Does anyone have a pair of 12 or 15mm wheel spacers/lugs laying around for the E36?????
I just got my big brake kit on last night and my wheels dont clear my calipers with a 10mm spacer. No biggie except that I have an appointment at Orr tomorrow and I cant drive my car... :( :bawl
I'll be around all summer, then its back to WI for school. Let me know if anything is going on.
thanks.
Carb_328 06-05-2003, 10:55 PM Looks like the vdub guys are putting together a german cruise down to mankato for lunch on the 14th....check it out here (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=860666)
Just thought I'd share that with anyone interested. I'll be out of town.
So any tentative dates for a gathering?
M triple 06-05-2003, 11:35 PM Yeah, I know some of those guys. If you want, I can see if they would be interested in having some of us join them.
Anybody going to any events this weekend???
PBalla 06-06-2003, 12:02 AM so BMW said 'need a new power antenna'...i fixed it, and saved myself $189
drummerboybisch 06-08-2003, 02:40 PM Im so pissed right now!!! TWO weekends in a row now my car has been either egged or attempted to be egged. Im so sick of people that get jealous or whatever they are towards me. I dont try and egg people on (no pun intended). I just mind my own business and then they feel the right to come and be assholes about it and egg my car. If they have a problem with me, come talk with me directly ya know?? Im switching with my mom so i can park inside from now on so hopefully this doesnt happen again. Alright Im done bitching now.
LiQUiD GHoST 06-08-2003, 02:51 PM You should wait for them next time. At least then you'll know who's up to no good. Personally, I'd probably strip whoever it was of every vital organ I had time to harvest, but you might want to take a less violent approach. :)

tony102385 06-09-2003, 12:41 AM buy a paint ball gun, wait for them to come.
Gary328i 06-09-2003, 08:29 AM Be happy they aren't using mustard. It's worse because it starts etching your paint right away. My wife's car got that done to it way back when and it was lightly swirl-striped after the mustard sat on it overnight.
Gary
///Mevil 06-09-2003, 10:48 AM Be grateful that it is not bologna either, especially in winter as that also strips the paint right away. When it freezes onto the paint and you remove it you get a perfect circle all the way down to the metal.
Paul
drummerboybisch 06-09-2003, 11:57 AM Car is in the garage from now on so i should be ok. I wish i knew who it was, but thats life i guess.

I would consider it depending on if its an allday thing and when I have HS graduation parties to attended.
M triple 06-17-2003, 11:18 PM sure is quiet around here...
you guys up for another meet???
drummerboybisch 06-18-2003, 12:46 AM Yea just not this coming weekend for me. Maybe sometime after the fourth id say.
I also have a set of GC RSM for sale for 75 bucks if anyone local wants them. They are brand new.
jasonwachtl 06-18-2003, 12:48 AM Yea, we're about due for another meet. Everyone in the twin cities area has been slacking on getting together especially since this is the best time of the year to do it. Paul (///Mevil) and I were just discussing this tonight as we were stripping the enamel off my calipers...possibly getting my car replaced on lemon laws--I'll keep everyone updated and post a story about it later.
How about the sometime around the 2nd weekend in July(the 11 and 12)?? I assume that everyone is busy for the 4th of july weekend and the 27th and 28th of June might be too soon on notice. On another note, I'll be moving in mid-august so I want to get one more meet in with you guys before I move outta here.

drummerboybisch 06-20-2003, 02:57 AM OFFICIAL MEET PLANNING
We need to set up another MN meet so here goes my attempt at trying.
The weekend following the fourth. So the weekend starting on July 11th. Any of those days of the weekend Im open for fri, sat, or sun. I think an afternoon cruise would be cool followed up by pics at some cool spot, and then maybe dinner and some more cruising or whatever else had for an idea.
But I think that would be a good weekend to set it up for so please respond with if you are available and your thoughts on the meet.
Steve
///Mevil 06-20-2003, 09:13 AM Sounds good so far to me. Maybe dinner ot the Gasthaus in NE MPLS. A German restaraunt for a German group of cars, what do you think? If this sounds like it will work I'll help with the leg work on the dinner reservations.

Zeviticus 06-23-2003, 05:12 PM Hey guys, does anyone know of a good place to paint my car. Preferably down in Rochester, Winona, LaCrosse or something. The car is by LaCrosse now. I don't want to take it too far away to get painted, since I'm not there. I'm probably going back to SoCal in a few years but would like to get it done now, since it's sitting anyway.
I'll be back in the states next summer, I'll try to hook up for a cruise or something up in the Cities.
