Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Double check all your hoses and make sure they are all tight and going to the right places. Do you hear any popping noise when the car is on?

I heard one pop like within the first couple minutes of driving.. I didn't put one of those connectors on the 3/4" conection, just ghetto rigged it.. so I will see if that fixes it.. other wise all my connections are tight with hose clamps.. so hopefully that is the culprit:(

If you are hearing the popping noise, it's pretty likely that you have a leak somewhere. Also, make sure all your injectors are seated properly into the manifold. Your MAF is getting a specific air reading and the ECU is sending a specific amount of fuel to match that air flow, but if there's a leak somewhere then it's getting the wrong amount of air. Then when the O2 sensors get it's readings the air/fuel mixture is off so the ECU trys to adjust to the mixture and everything gets all screwed up.

No, you will still have to get the CEL cleared. Just go back to Autozone, they will clear it for you --- free.

Do you have a picture of what you are talking about? All the vacuum lines should plug into something. You can't just leave a vacuum line unplugged, that's probably why you are getting all those CEL codes.

What DIY documentation did you use to help you with the install? Did you also make sure you either plugged the air temp sensor opening or at least modify the original air temp sensor to fit into the M50 manifold opening.

Then the larger adapter I have ghetto rigged into the large opening.. Which I need to change to put that connector on because I didn't know u had to buy that... But the connector has a smaller connection and I was wondering what connects to that because I already have all the connections hooked up... Or can I just plug it.. And I have the air temp hooked up to the intake elbow.. And it is in their really tight...Can I leave the old intake sensor in the manifold because it is in their right now...

Just been through A LOT of troubleshooting with these BMWs... :D You don't even want to know how much $$$ I've spent buying diagnostic tools, gauges, and tools to test all the problems I ran into after my turbo install. Also, the reason why I shaved my hair so that I couldn't pull them out when I was frustrated... :)

Whats the shop's name or name/phone number?

Any chance they will just remove adhesive for the $20? I removed mine myself and the rear window is full of adhesive that I cant get off for fear of ruining the defrost lines. Id rather leave it to a professional.

Eric, got the tint off last night and now i Know what you are saying about being a pain. Ended up finding the best way to get it off is a flat blade razor and Krud Kutter (from Home Depot). Wet down the window and scrape and the adhesive gives away and cleans up really nicely. IF you have any questions give me a call 612-227-9877.

No its mobile solutions that does it for $190. I already set my appointment up with tintmasters for tomorrow at $210, however they are much closer to my house. However im sure these places would be more than willing to drop the price if we said we have like 5 more bimmers coming into have it done.

Yup I got the back window too. Just make sure to be gentle and let the degreaser/adhesion cutter do the work. Also, make sure to scrape horizontally with the defroster lines and not down them.

As for deals I can talk to they guy tonight at tintmasters and see what he says about a group discount.

I only know of one person (ParadigmGuy) on BF.com that's running the Boost Logic kit. Running fully built head, T67 turbo, and TEC3R and if I recall correctly, he was making 600+ RWHP and 540+ TQ.

I believe the Boost Logic kits are very nice, but be ready to dish out some serious $$$ since it doesn't come with any tuning that's why most guys are going with the TEC3R. I went with the Technique Tuning kit because it's been out and there are so many satisfied owners. Plus, I like the fact that it retains the stock DME and it runs like it came from the factory.

I've beening hearing the same.. I wonder how the TT stage II compares to AA Stage II turbo... I hear the new stage II aa is running 460whp... Some guy at AA told me this, i guess there website hasnt been upgtraded yet..

I'm still hoping for a 7 series AWD!

Yes i am looking for street seats, mine are shot. I was thinking either Recaro SRD/Speed, Sparco Milano/torino, Cobra daytona/Misano, or Corbeau CR1. SO IF anyone had these seats to try out i would appreciate it if none of these places stock them. I have heard bad things about corbeau and the others seem to be a toss up. I have had experience with Sparco pro 2000s quite a bit, but dont want a fixed back seat for the street. Any reccomendations would be appreciated as well.

Of course it does. You didn't see that 7 series last winter spinning out on the ice... If it didn't make a difference Audi wouldn't have it in their A8. Extra weight is minimal/no prob as the 7 series is a heavy car anyways. I don't think they build the car to be light in the first place. If I wanted to drive a light car I would drive my honda civic.

OK Tell me why the 7 series is a better car without it. Audi is killin the whole industry because of their AWD setup. Even Mercedes has jumped on the band wagon with a S500 4matic. If BMW came out with a 7 series XI they would grab up a big portion of the sales from these markets. A 750/760XI would be the best car for the money on the road.

Yes, it would make that car into a lean mean even better handling machine. I love my 740i handling but I can only dream of the day I will buy an 06 A8 or the new S8 with a V10.

Lexus is even coming big with it's new LS in a v10 AWD. Cmon folks, get with the times and evolve!

I'd be down for the tint thing. I just got pulled over the other day. You guys know that passenger cars in MN can only have 50% all around minus the windshield, right?

Edit: Has anyone ever heard about going to the doctor to have him give you a note to have your windows tinted due to *sniffle* sensitivity to light? I could have sworn I've heard something about that before...

I have heard of people doing that too, I guess you need to know your doctor well.

Maniak, you are correct about the doctor thing. Legal in MN is 50% on all windows minus the front and if you have a letter from a doc you can run pretty much everthing up to limo otherwise you could be deemed a hazard. All you need is a written note carried in the car at all times and of course you as the registered driver from what I have heard.

As for the tint group buy, let me know and maybe i can set it up or start a new thread as maybe some iowans and 'sconis would like to get in on it. From what the guy said the more cars, the bigger the discount.

If I end up keeping the car ill be down for that tint job. :alright

Also, my friend has 15% in his 350Z and gets off scott-free because of his note from his eye-doc. It just says hes photosensitive. His doc was the "walmart" one. Just walk in and see if he's shady enough to give it to you! :buttrock

It's a new member BBQ, that's open to current CCA members and their families and to prospective members as well. We plan on raffling door prizes as well as a concours (not very competitive - more for fun) that benefits the Cancer Kids Fund. The weather is looking to be hot and sunny, so it should be a great day.

I was planning on going, but now have a wedding to go to. How late do these usually run? I might still try to make it, but would likely have to leave around 3:00.

I've never done an auto-x before, so I was actually looking forward to trying it out. I have no idea where my car would class, so I was thinking of just running in the exhibition group (or whatever they call the non-competitive class...)

As for the autox, you have to be registered pretty early. They fill up really quick, I believe the 150 places were filled early last week. You can run in SI (special interest) your first time with MAC.

I wasn't aware of any Friday sessions. Either way I won't be driving in them. Most likely I will be staying at a friends place in Chicago so I won't be at Autobahn till Saturday morning. Though I might stay in Joliet just so I don't have to drive into Chicago traffic....

Of course it does. You didn't see that 7 series last winter spinning out on the ice... If it didn't make a difference Audi wouldn't have it in their A8. Extra weight is minimal/no prob as the 7 series is a heavy car anyways. I don't think they build the car to be light in the first place. If I wanted to drive a light car I would drive my honda civic.

OK Tell me why the 7 series is a better car without it. Audi is killin the whole industry because of their AWD setup. Even Mercedes has jumped on the band wagon with a S500 4matic. If BMW came out with a 7 series XI they would grab up a big portion of the sales from these markets. A 750/760XI would be the best car for the money on the road.
They should of had correct tires on the car.
Audi is not "Killing the whole industry" with their cars, and they are known for there 4 wheel drive systems.
Mercedes did not just jump ship to the 4matic system, they have been using it since 1986 in the US.
The new LS 600h that is coming out is not a V10.

Audi = Been doing 4 wheel drive forever
MB = Has been working on the systems for 20+ years.
BMW = Biggest motor you can get with 4 wheel drive is the 255hp 3.0

The car does not need 4 wheel drive if you know how to drive and have the correct tires on the car.

Where: We will start the drive ( as in get in the car, turn it on, put it in gear, and let out the clutch) at 9:00 AM Sunday, July 23rd. We will be leaving from the tiny mall/Super America Gas station off of Glen Road and Highway 61. you can't miss it, for directions visit the eurowerks thread.

We are having lunch at the Anderson House in wabasha. It really kicks ass. For a brief menu, visit the eurowerks thread. It is important that if you are going to come you post in the thread for us to make rough reservations.

The route is a conglomeration of the 2nd leg of our fall run last year that we never did, and a volksport tour from awhile ago. It is fantastic, lots of elevation changes, and very technical roads. Due to this, there are a few restrictions which you can read about in the thread...Here is an overview. The actual route differs slightly but it gives you the idea.

I was in Chicago for the weekend, but how long of a drive did it end up being? Seemed like a long route.

Was a great drive!!! I use to do those drives when I was with the S2000 club and they always rock! To bad I had to slow it down a bit cause my buddy has never been on those kinds of run and his tires were not the best. Next time should be a blast!

Other then getting tagged by the state trooper the drive was great. wish i had my other set of tires on. it would of made the drive a bit more interesting. oh well, hope to see some more bimmers at the next drive!

Thanks, it was quite a surprise to see that we made the cover. That is a testament to how good of a photographer Kris Klewell is. I think that once they saw his pictures, they knew it was cover worthy.

Orr charges a ton. I would have had "All J's" on Xerxes in Minneapolis install a tire for me, much cheaper, and they do good work also.

I assumed that there was a BMW service center/dealership in Mankato. I have now realized that there is not one--the nearest one being Bloomington. Are there any qualified mechanics in the area? I realize that there is one in St. Cloud who is on this forum.

What do you need done? I may be able to help you out, otherwise the closest is Motorwerks, Sears, The place in St. Cloud, and Eric R knows a place ask him about it.

Yea this place isnt that close but they have very reasonable rates versus dealerships and do superb work. They are in New Brighton and I believe he made a post on here to let us know they exist. New bright is basically Roseville, north of St Paul a few mins. Not very close to you!

I strongly suggest JB Eurotech though, if you are going to haul it up here.

Well, I will be going to school in Mankato. i have to get the car looked at, as it does have a shimmy. I am thinking of buying a couple of control arms with Meyle ball joints to fix that. I would need them to be put in.

My windows do not work. All it will take for those is a relay. The problem was will the initial electrical break. Something in the driver side door is stuck in the gears of the motor--the motors works, but it seems to be caught up on something.

The next task is the e-brake. It does not seem to keep very well at all. I do believe I just need a new tension spring for that and it should be fine. Maybe some new brake shoes...maybe.

And last but not least, I have been noticing a considerable loss of power and hesitation if I step on the gas. I am not quite sure what it could be, but that is why I would like ot take it to a dealership. So I can have it diagnosed correctly the first time.

In addition to those problems are money and transportation. I do not have an incredible amount to spend as I am still going to school. Also, I do not have another car. That is why I wished there was so some of help in Mankato. If I could just get my "steering wheel shimmy" fixed I could go to Bloomington.

P.S. I am not in Mankato yet, I will be driving up there tomorrow. Oh, and sorry for the length.

Orr Autosport is located in Eden Prairie also. They are very good, only work on BMWs and not a dealer. www.orrautosport.com for more details. I have taken my car there and to Justin in St. Cloud. Both are very good IMO.

Orr's hourly labor rate is 33% more than Justin's.....

Thanks. As you may have noted, its bone stock looking except for the AA exhaust. I have been toying with bigger wheels and coilovers, but am reluctant becuase this car is a daily driver, and wont see the track as a vert (dont think any of the locals allow them), and I kinda like the feel/ride and look of those 17" LTW's....

Anyway, I know it if were also dropped on bigger wheels (maybe some 18" BBS) it would look far cooler.... But as is, once the SC goes in, with no other real visual clues its been 'tuned', it will be the ultimate steath rocket. I can just see the faces of dudes who try to muscle past me thinking I'm a slow "girls car" (i.e., vert). Kinda like my RS6 in that regard. To the uninitiated its just a slow A6....

My father bought a business here...and also saw how people are VERY nice in Willmar compare to LA area lol. My father currently owns a GAS station/cafe/c-store...it's called SUNRAY SQUARE on HWY 71:D come by if you want, I'm always there working:) but yeah my father is in the process of owning a liquor store in MELROSE (i think that's the name) and also after that planning on owning a gas station. Well I guess I am officially the worst seller out there. It's been a "feeler" for over a year now. I turn down offers that are extraneously high because I dont feel like I can part with the car. :(

I have finally put my foot down and lowered the price and it sets at $15,500. That's about $3000 less than what I was offered this spring. :az I'm OK if I get that out of it.

on a side note: I would love to give this car away at something absurdly low but I owe too much and can't give the car away if I dont get what I owe. Id have to pry the lien from my bank's cold dead fingers.

WOOO HOOO I can not wait for the drive summer drive was way fun and it is the same loop.

My s50 e30 m3 conversion is nearly complete. Still needs a muffler, but that should be very soon... I'll post some pics soon.

Who's going to Wings and Wheel???? It's this Saturday in Osceola Wisconsin. It's an awesome car show with everything from 50's and 60's cars to Ferrari's. Everyone is welcome to show their cars and they should have a section for the bmw crowd.

Nice pics, Tanner. If you had made it out to Wings and Wheels, I probably wouldn't have won BMW best-of-class... It was quite a surprise to find my car actually winning something. Great car show, you guys should try to make it next year. With 500+ cars they had just about every car you could imagine from a 1936 Rolls Royce to a 2006 M5. Damn..that is the right price range. I'd almost pick that up for a daily driver to replace my M3.

But I worry about it's winter capabilities..thats part of the reaosn why I need to get rid of my car.

A BMW is perfectly fine in the winter, trust me you just need non summer tires :P

You have an LSD, what more do you want for the snow. With snow tires you are set.

I have driven in MN or WI for the last 10 years with RWD cars and have never really had a problem, although the worst was my driving my parents Ford Aerostar when I was 15 and 16.

Ive been in an E36 on Dunlop M3's and it is crazy how well it handles.

My issue is the deep-snow handling. A car like that will plow snow til the cows come home. Get stuck on I-94 because of the deep snow.. who wants that?

I love E36s but sport suspension is for SUMMER..lol. Too many bad experiences to want to subject myself to that. I'd prefer an A4 with Quattro and SUV-esque suspension... + snow tires of course.

And no you cant sway my vote :tongue No nice BMW should be driven in these winters the way they salt the roads around here...

Hmm. I rocked my daily E36 328is with suspension and blizzaks all last winter, well most of it and IT kicks ass.

You're not going to get stuck... hell I went on two trips to Lutsen and 3 to Duluth snowboarding and all that mattered were the snow tires...

The car went through all of it. The only time I had trouble was getting out of my garage after getting dumped on in March, like 10+ inches...
Mind you the garage has a HUGE angle, a truck would of had a hard time. Hell the plow guy wouldn't hit my driveway as he said he would get stuck, so they sholved.

Anyway don't worry about a BMW in the snow, you do know where their originally made right?
