Well 1 and 2 are pretty subjective, but I'll give you my opinion...
1: Euro lights and bumpers or M-tech kit, shadowline trim, 16-17" wheels, slightly lower springs
2: replace the muffler
3: keep up with the maintainance, and use quality parts.

I've order parts from Steve Haygood and from "double 02" on ebay ( http://stores.ebay.com/002BMWPARTS ).

Good luck

Good Luck. The E28 535is is one of the best Bimmers out there. I have two that I'm parting out right now with many extra parts including a set of BBS RS Classics and a set of Borbet mags as well. Air Dams and a rear spoiler also. I have a set of Bilstein shocks and H & R lowered springs in good condition. They work great on the street.

Call or email for more info.

I would go with euro-lights (better lighting and looks), H&R Sport Spring/Bilstein Sport Shock combo, and either 15" or 16" factory wheels, Alpina's if you can find them, and call it a day.

+1 on the Euro lights, Bilsteins are the best upgrade...even better with the H&R tuned combo. Wheels....well everyones got an opinion on them, depends on your style. If your 535is is a manual think of a short shift kit, and a chip as well.
