Hello folks,
I have an important question about my vert. My headliner is coming down in the front and I have yet to see a thread addressing this. I know about "dogears", but this is in the front, not sides.
I just need to know how and where to reattach this headliner. Any pics and or video would be helpful.

ps... Smart gals are welcome if you can help here.
Your knowledge is invaluable to me!

Is the metal rod on the front of the headliner still in its loops on the tension straps?

How much did the headliner come down? Pics would help. I'm kinda shooting in the dark here.

M,
Here is a picture of it. I hope you can see where it connects and help me fix this. As far as the metal rod, I dont see or know where it is.

Any others are welcome to help....I'll take it.

Help me bro!

Thanks,
Eric

Hmm this is a much bigger issue. Your whole headliner has come out of the trimpiece where the handle is located.
I know it's screwed on there underneath that plastic. I hope it's not teared.

looks like you need to replace the liner. I dont know if just reattaching it will be a good long-term solution.

Say it aint so...replacing the headliner would be very $$$.
Do you know if #28(WIRE FRONT STRAP) in the diagram below is the piece that holds the headliner in the groove? I am missing this piece and I ordered it hoping its the solution.
Thoughts?

Eric

ps...I was wondering if one of you could post of picture of headliner in this position. I am curious to see why the headliner came out of place.

yes, 28 is the wire rod that should be secured into fabric loops. here are a few pics i took from when i spent a few hours messing with my car's soft top. if you spend some time checking out, you can tell what looks broken or like its missing something.

on the driver's side, the metal rod folds back and has a circle at the end, like you see in the 2nd pic here. the passenger's side of the rod just stops and should have a little plastic cap on the end to keep it from snagging the fabric.

i think the purpose of the metal rod is to keep the headliner flat across and from bunching up in the middle during the folding process. since your car doesnt have the rod, perhaps the headliner got bunched up and then pulled out of wherever it should be secured at the front.

The rod is to make the headliner fold up properly, not for keeping the headliner's front attached underneath the trimpiece...

...so I'm affraid it won't solve your problem.

of course it wont solve the solve the problem or repair the top, but depending on what caused the problem in the first place, it could prevent the problem from happening again after it is properly repaired.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered and the wire strap front and I have no idea where or how it goes into the top. Could you guys send me a picture of your top so I could possibly see where it goes in at?

Plomini posted it.

Didn't you see the pics?

I'm working on replacing the top (not the headliner) but I have the top pretty much off right now. I will take some pictures tonight and post or email them to you and it might help you to see what the headliner looks like, where it is attached, where the rod goes, etc., without the actual top being in the way.

The headliner is glued to a U-shaped channel that fits over a metal edge on the underside of the front rail. You have to remove this channel to get at the glue flaps for the convertible top itself. The headliner doesn't have much room for the adhesive, so maybe yours just has separated from the channel. You could quickly pull it off and see if you just need to glue it back on.

My pictures are too big. I will send you an email with them attached.

Thanks for your pics, Palomino.
Its very unclear from your pics why my headliner is sagging.
I dont see those straps under my roof.

Anyone out there have pics of what I should see underneath the roof and where the front of the headliner attaches?

Any help is welcome....anyone....
