View Full Version : Valentine 1 hard wire install for Z4M justincase724 10-30-2007, 12:12 AM Tried to search for this already....anyone know which wire it is for the Z4M coupe with the premium package? BimmerZealot 10-30-2007, 01:23 AM green with yellow, 3.0Si with premium package. Heated/Auto-Dimming mirror justincase724 10-30-2007, 04:50 PM is it the same for the M coupe ? The HACK 10-30-2007, 05:44 PM Yes. justincase724 10-30-2007, 05:54 PM Hack refresh my memory as I think the brown is ground Correct ..also I want the harness to the mirror not the map light ? The HACK 10-30-2007, 07:14 PM Mirror. I suggest you invest in a $20 volt meter. Brown is usually ground. Disassemble the mirror assembly by opening the clam-shell, then disconnect the mirror harness. You should be able to use the contacts on the volt meter to determine which wire supplies what voltage at what key position. That's how I figured out on non-premium MZ4 Coupes, the lavender/white wire carries 12V power at key switch 1. justincase724 10-30-2007, 08:07 PM Thanks Hack for the reply and yes i will use a Volt meter just was wanting a wire to use as a starting point...Wouldnt I want it for key position 2 instead of 1? The HACK 10-31-2007, 02:48 PM Thanks Hack for the reply and yes i will use a Volt meter just was wanting a wire to use as a starting point...Wouldnt I want it for key position 2 instead of 1? It's up to you. I like position 2 but that's not available on the MZ4 Coupe sans premium. justincase724 11-02-2007, 10:33 PM got it all hooked up bro ..thanks 964junkie 11-19-2007, 03:27 PM could you possibly post pictures of the install, and the wire you tapped to get power? I tried hard wiring my v1 to the m but haven't been able to get it to work. Thanks!! wrh3 11-19-2007, 03:49 PM Here are some pics I took, M Coupe with ZPP/Nav: Green with white stripe for 12+, ground lug under existing screw: http://www.billswebspace.com/bmwmc22.jpg http://www.billswebspace.com/bmwmc23.jpg 964junkie 11-19-2007, 09:41 PM Thanks for the pics, these are very helpful. apexstrafer 11-20-2007, 01:05 PM I don't think the rear radar/laser protection is going to be very effective when the unit is mounted that high. The way the roof curves downward in back, you're almost completely blocking it's line of sight. Stand behind the car, look through the rear window and see if the V1 is visible. I run mine just below the mirror and get full range in both directions. I'm looking for a short retractable, coiled phone cord to hardwire mine but haven't had any luck so far (I don't want to have a loose, straight cord falling down below the mirror when I'm not running the V1). wrh3 11-20-2007, 01:54 PM I don't think the rear radar/laser protection is going to be very effective when the unit is mounted that high. Radar is not pinpoint so the rear wave guide antenna will pick it up fine- laser may be reduced from the rear but is more of a threat from the front (I don't think I have ever been shot with laser from the rear before being shot from the front). I actually don't want it to be visible from the rear ;) Higher is better according to V1 and this position is no higher than it would be with the visor mount: http://www.valentine1.com/moreinfo/pdf/mounting_pg17-18.pdf YMMV |
