My wife bumped into the passenger side outside rear view mirror and it fell off! Nothing appears broken, but the three bullet-shaped pins don't want to go back into their respective holes. I'm afraid to force it and bust something. Anyone know how to get the (M-style) mirror back on??? My Bentley manual only shows the standard 3 series mirror. Thanks.

they are supposed to just snap on/off. if you try to press it back on and it wont stay in place, something probably broke.

the non-m mirrors flip forwards & backwards, but the m ones just come off.

You just need to push harder. As in brute force. These need to fit tightly and that's exactly what they do.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling, but didn't want to break anything. A friend also recommended wetting the contact points with Windex, or other water-based lubricant, to help ease them in.

I swapped my stock mirrors for som CF ones, then swapped back and traded the CF ones for M3 ones. I never installed the M3 ones (waiting to paint).

I didn't look too closely, but I thought that for all of them there are actually bolts that hold the mirrors in place - accessed by removing the plastic trim from the passenger compartment area.

Is that just the case for non-m3 mirrors?
