So, after searching and reading through a bunch of old posts, I still can't figure out what combo is decent to purchase. The car in question is a '97 M3 sedan with very foggy headlight lenses. I could clean them, but they'll just fade again. So, I'd like to replace them with glass-lensed headlights and HIDs.

First, are all glass lens projectors Euro-spec? If not, do I need Euro-spec or is US-spec OK for HIDs? I don't want them to blind oncoming traffic and want the light spread out correctly in front of me.

Second, what's a decent HID set up? I'm talking light temperature or whatever (the 3000k, 5000k, etc.). I want it to look stock and not too bright and excessive.

Third, I noticed some companies offer combos. Who's the best combo seller with a decent reputation and price? Also, it has to be a combo without angel eyes, as I absolutely despise them.

I believe all euro lights are glass. As far as the projector inside the casing, I don't know. The 2 main brands are DEPO and ZKW. Depos are cheaper and IMO, acceptable. ZKW cost more and I don't know why you would pay more for them. There are group buys going on for DEPO and ZKW usually, just take look.

As for HID, the brightest (most intense, most lumens) color temp is 3200K-4000K. Most people get 6000K because they are slightly blue. The higher in temp you go the more blue/purple it turns. At 3200-4000K it is basically pure white. Hope this helps.

Go with ZKW.

And I like the looks of ~4000K because it doesn't look blue.

any euro headlight will be a hugh improvment over the stock units and when you add a hid kit you'll have more light then you know what do to with.
buy according to your budget, set your price and shop accordingly.

get the best hid kit possible, that is the single biggest and most important upgrade when it comes to lighting.

zkw are great headlight but they do come at a price, zkw's are an original BMW part and are made in europe (high wages).

depo is a very good budget light, not as good as zkw but they perform very well and look almost like zkw, made in Taiwan where wages are not all that high. its a very nice set of lights.

the DjAuto are a budget headlight, they perform well and look great, they are an exact replica of zkw and the glass has the velocity nipples just like the "real" euro zkw, the light output is ok and mated to a good hid kit they will perform reasonably well at an unbeatable price.

You should check out understeer.com, or contact private message bimmer95. You can get the ZKW's there, and if price doesnt matter much definently get them(they seem to be cheaper from understeer as well). If you want something a little cheaper I would suggest getting a set of apexcones, I just got a set and they are very nice.

having bought and experienced the service and quality of products from both companies, it obvious which company stands out.
you might save a few bucks up front but in the long run you will end up spending a lot more if you buy from the other guy. when you go with bavtoys you are getting quality and service, not just some thrown together product.

No complaints to understeer from me. I too have experienced both companies and I do not want to go there but you know where I stand.
