I installed the Rogue Engineer Clutch stop on my 03 z4 and really have not been able to adjust it any more than the stock position due to the clutch switch to start the car. Can the switch point relay to start the car be ajusted so the clutch stop can work.

Here is the disclaimer from Rogue Engineering

Late model vehicles have a dual position, solid state clutch switch which requires the clutch pedal to be depressed nearly completely to the floor in order to start the vehicle. For these vehicles, the clutch stop cannot be adjusted to the limits of the clutch pedal engagement unless the clutch switch is modified. Modifications to the clutch switch are required to allow for both vehicle start and cruise control functions to be retained.

I am right in the middle of making my own clutch stop. Its just a 10mm bolt with a 1.5 pitch. When I first put in there, I had to adjust it down some more because of the starter interrupt switch. Right now the bolt head is about 3/4 above the carpet, I don't know how thick the rubber is on your stopper, but that should give you a reference.

Currently its starts everytime, and the engaging is pretty instant. Not much movement up and its already grabbing. I know that didn't answer your question other than the 3/4 of a inch. I going to look into it a little further today, as I still need to weld a flat washer and add some rubber., then readjust it.

Making your own is a great idea. I thought of that too, but for $19 they make a nice unit. The only advantage yours will have over the Rogue is the correct pitch. My peddle pretty much has to be pressed all the way in for the starter relay to work and the travel back to clutch ingagement is too much almost the same as before.

Thats not the plan, huh, I just finished welding my up. I will check for adjustability on the starter switch and report back. The other advantage would be cost, I have a whole $4.20 in parts cost, and about 1/2 hour labor.

Well its not looking good. There is a hydraluic plunger attached about two inches off of the clutch pedal. There is a little plug with some wires coming off of the plunger, I am assuming that is the starter switch and there is no adjustability to it. If I am wrong, someone please let me know. BTW this is on a 2007 M coupe, yours might be different, but I doubt it. Sorry,

I "made" one as well, elevator bolt DIY, cost under 5$ and works like a charm. I found mine very adjustable my starting/engagement point was far from the floor. I guess newer Z's dont have the startup problem?

Maybe there is a way to add or glue a piece on the end of the sensor plunger/ or maybe a rubber cap that extends it.

Ditto the DIY elevator bolt. I used a piece of two sided carpet tape to attach the rubber washer. Less then $5 with 5 minutes time to assemble and install. Works like a champ.

Thats exactly what I did. Just glue the sensor closed and it will start without touching the clutch-

sorry to bring this back from dead but if any of you guys need help adjusting the starter sensor i have figured out a way that involves no wire modding and no more than a zip tie. took me 5 minutes once i thought of the concept.
