Is anyone familiar with Illinois statutes regarding salvage title? My wife bought a car three years ago and was never informed the car was salvaged and on her Illinois title under 'Type of Title' it is written 'Original'; is this a forgery? What is her recourse against the dealership? Help!

Take it up with the parent company that owns the dealership. If it's just the dealership, take it up with the general manager. Be sure to make it clear that your will ing to make it public or some shit to get them to cooperate. W/e the result, you'll prolly just get some kind of payment.

Otherwise take it up with the state of Illinois and they will take care of the dealership to make sure it doesn;t happen again (sounds a little too much like the mafia...Capone's grandchildren maybe:D)

A friend of mine bought a used Porsche from a new car dealer in IL and several months later found out it had a salvage title. The dealer wouldn't compensate him and the money it would have cost to pursue it legally was more than he was willing to put up. The state was unwilling to help, as well. End result is when he sold the car with the branded title disclosed he got about $6,000 less than what the car would have been worth witha clean title. Talk about a reaming, I would have firebombed the dealership.

Persepective buyer ran a Carfax report and discovered that there was a salvage title issued in MO a month before the car was purchased. I checked with Sec. of ST.(DMV) and they show no record of the car being junked, nor do they have any record of title in MO. I smell something rotten...
