This is not asked with attitude but as a simple question that has been on my mind and never really been answered.

Why would a dealer refuse to fix a car they know has something wrong with it but insist on telling you that there is nothing wrong?

Heard many stories about people (myself included) who have taken a car into the dealer for this or that only to be told, "that's normal" or "nothing is wrong" when there obviously is something wrong. Are they [dealers] in denial? Do they get 'poor marks' the more repairs they do? I don't see the reasoning behind it but am sure there is one. Someone, please, shed some light if you can.

With all the bitching we do about dealers are we all in the same boat and have no idea?
