I got a few bucks back from Trek, so I bought a new one. However, this past Summer, my front hydraulic brakes failed, so I had to ghost ride the bike down a steep ass hill. Serious pwnage, for me and the bike.:help
JaredM3,
What size is it? My son outgrew his Trek 4300 and probably needs a new one. Although, he is afraid to ride off of curbs.:confused
///M3Augy 10-25-2007, 01:53 PM Crunch. That looks badddd.
JaredM3 10-25-2007, 01:53 PM it is a short frame @ 15.5
JaredM3 10-25-2007, 01:54 PM ^ that fall must have felt good
FredK 10-25-2007, 01:58 PM ouch! I love Time ATACs. :D
vertius 10-25-2007, 02:25 PM Amazingly, I did not get hurt at all. I don't know how. The worst part was carrying the bike down the mountain. This happened at the top.
I had my helmet and Fox arm guards. I flew so far and fast, I didn't have any time to react.
^ that fall must have felt good
vertius 10-25-2007, 02:26 PM I think I still have them if you want.:D Too much float, Shimanos FTW.
ouch! I love Time ATACs. :D
FredK 10-25-2007, 02:27 PM Haha! When the cleats get worn, there's a lot of slop, but otherwise, I like em. I have the same exact ones!
vertius 10-25-2007, 02:27 PM lol, CF wasn't meant to be snapped. It sounded like a Redwood tree splitting. I wish it was my CF handlebar that snapped.
Crunch. That looks badddd.
FredK 10-25-2007, 02:31 PM that's why you need titanium EVERYTHING! :stickoutt

vertius 10-25-2007, 02:33 PM Fred,
At the speed I was going, I probably would have snapped a solid cast iron frame.:D
that's why you need titanium EVERYTHING! :stickoutt
vertius 10-25-2007, 02:37 PM Damn, too small. He is on a 16" right now and he sits comfortably on my 18". He is pretty tall.
it is a short frame @ 15.5
JaredM3 10-25-2007, 09:03 PM ^ you and everyone else in the world doesnt want the 15.5, I am 6'2 and I love the short frame, its a good tight woods trail bike, very fast response and easy to throw around, its like a little go kart compared to my 21" stumpie jumpie.
savage217 10-25-2007, 10:36 PM I got a bmx bike for sale if anyone is interested. Its got everything aftermarket except the frame. 3 piece crank, new headset, 3 sets of handlebars, triple wall rims, sealed hubs, etc, etc. Im looking for 250. Put it like 1k+
S.A.B. 10-25-2007, 11:31 PM I'd never trust a carbon frame in the dirt. On the road is one thing, but there's no way I'm going to feel confident chucking a plastic frame around the mountain.
Jared have you tried CL and ebay? The FSR's seem to go fast there. I have a ton of bike boxes if you need one for free to ship.
JaredM3 10-25-2007, 11:39 PM ^ I have had it on and off of CL, the size puts off every single person that has ever been interested...
S.A.B. 10-25-2007, 11:47 PM ^ I hear ya. Those frames are great for all around riding though. I'm 6'2 and I run a 18 inch frame on the dirt.
What about http://www.mtbr.com/ ?

You would be surprised. I bought that Pro Issue brand new and had it for ten years. I broke 1 aluminum bike (my friend's bike) and bent a titanium one (my old Merlin).
I really miss that bike. It was the best single-track bike I have ever used. I probably over-used it going downhilling with it, but I was very comfortable riding it.

Thank got for Trek's Lifetime frame replacement warrenty assuming your the origional purchaser!
vertius 10-27-2007, 10:59 AM Yeah, I was the original buyer in 1995, but the bike was over ten years old when I crashed it. There was some depreciation involved, I got a $350 voucher from them, better than nothing I guess. The catch was, I had to buy another Trek. My local shop owner was retiring so he gave me a great deal on a Liquid 25. The bike retailed for $2000 and he gave it to me for $1200, so with the voucher, I paid $850 for it. I ended up throwing my XTR components on the L25.
