Im looking to make a movie involving a car chase with a bunch of bimmers for my Film as Literature class. This is going to be used as our final in the class so its not due until late May, but I figure I would get a start on it now for planning and such.
Anyone have any ideas?

You could throw in a bit of a twist by making the movie more about how the package arrives to it's destination, and not so much about what it actually is.

^^ OOOO I like this!...I'd like to keep it in the Exeter, NH area only because its one of the film requirements :( Very good plot though! We have alot of traffic and downtown area up here too. As for budget, I'm not really sure yet, but those involved, I would buy you lunch ;)

The twist should be that the whole time you never know what the package is. You think it's something dangerous, like a weapon, or something expensive like money. Then at the end when the package is revealed it should be a box of cupcakes.

I drive like that all the time. Made a few no budget films in my time, always a good time. Keep us posted, sounds interesting, and your only a few hour scenic drive away from here. Try and get local law enforcement in on it, maybe they can block a quiet street for you.

a little update:
i walked down to the police station yesterday asking if they could assist in blocking off a road for us, and their response amazed me.
one of the higher guys said that as long as we give like a week notice, (and that the video is used for education purposes (aka my film as lit project)), they will get a few cruisers block off a road, and do a highway chase (at the legal speed)

Count me in too! In addition to my BMW I have a 2006 Suzuki SV650S if you want to throw a mostly naked street bike in the mix...

im still looking for ideas with the plot. possible gadgets involvement? mabey james bond-ish? possibily? haha

its cool that you got the roads shut down for a little while, you should see if you can get some private property to do some more intensive maneuvers and try to edit it in. As for the plot, I don't really know, but I always thought bimmers made great good or bad guy cars.

As for the plot keep the idea of transporting something. Have a freeze dried case of some sort so the item appears to be very important. Then after all the craziness (maybe its gets stolen then retrieved back) to getting the item to its destination the case is opened up to reveal it’s a cupcake with a candle for a childs b-day. It has action, suspense and a bit of drama in the end.
Just a thought of what others have offered.

Heres an Update:
With all of your ideas, I came to the conclusion that it would be a good idea to have a bad guy holding someone that is close to the protagonist, hostage. With that, the hero must deliver a box of donuts to a client of the bad guy, without knowing whats inside the box. With various opsticles on the way (aka we need some bad-ass driving shots haha).

I got the local popo in on it to and one officer that I talked to thought it sounded like a fun idea (because they never get good highway chaces up here).

I'll keep posting ideas when I think of them. And of cource, any ideas from you guys, is highly valued!

I live in the southern-most part of Johnston, nearly in Cranston. It only takes me 10 mins to get to the malls.

I really have to ponder that one, I haven't shot any cars yet mostly abandoned places and animals. ummmm I have to drive around and look, I'm not a fan of parking lot or back building lot photos.

Yeah, I hate those, too. I like pictures that focus more on the foreground (my car) than the background.

Yeah, I'm just stating that I do like close-in shots.....if you look at the ones I posted, you'll notice I pretty much fit the car to the frame of the photo.

state side is open top, I'm not sure but D&B is open til 1 am I think so after that.

City side might be better if it's raining, or we could wait and do it state side.

Also I feel that the road in front of Prospect park could make for neat pictures but I haven't messed around with that one yet.

I am not a fan of artificial lighting especially fluorescents don'ts usually make for good lighting.

It's kind of hard to get anything good in the background near that park....at least it was when I was looking at an apartment in that area last year during the summer.

Honestly film kills digital any day, I respect that I have two N8008 SLR's too hell yeah! However it's so much cheaper if I want to take and delete 60000 pictures.

Shutter speed, or set it on "bulb" my Dslr and SLR do pretty much the same exact thing. Depending on what I am photography for long exp, I usually open up my aperture, and set it open for like 30 seconds or longer if i'm like taking a picture of a dark building at night or something like that.
