I managed to blow the main speaker on the door of my 330ci E46 (apologies for my lack of insight here on the correct speaker ID - the one attached to the door handle latch).
I've done some searches and read a lot of posts here, but still not totally clear on how to act. I have seen that Bavarian Soundwerks offers some well reco'd replacement speaker sets, but am not confident in my own ability to install correctly - I also only need the one.
Having said that, I don't want to take my car to the dudes behind Best Buy either.
Anybody have any reco'd sound places in Southern California or other suggestions?
Thanks-
gmannino

If you want to replace ONLY the one failed speaker - you can always buy a new one from the dealer, or a used one off the forum from a member who has replaced/upgraded theirs. There are plenty of write-up's, and how-to's.

Wow, speakerworks, I haven't heard about them in a long time, they are off of main street in Santa Ana, Beach Auto Sounds in Huntington Beach is pretty good. If you want serious sound, Diamond Audio Hex Line, you can get a mid and tweet for about 200-300 from ebay. Sweet, clean stuff. Otherwise, go to a place like al & eds and listen to their stuff, see what you like and try to find it online...cheers

If you want a direct fit replacement, and only that, our midrange replacements are all you need. Cheaper than the dealer, better sound quality, and much longer life:

Installation is REALLY easy. Just take the door panel off (like 4 screws), unscrew OEM midrange housing, unscrew midrange, screw new midrange in, and reinstallation is reversed. There's no wiring, cutting, spicing, etc. Just direct fit replacement.
Here are instructions for our Stage 1 Audio Upgrade (all speaker replacement) that will give you an overview of the process (it's not exactly the same, but almost):
